20 years ago today Pres. Hinckley renamed Cougar Stadium after my grandpa. He was my inspiration for getting into athletics, and the reason for Luke's middle name. The nerdy kid in the starter jacket was lucky to have a front row seat to one of the greats.

My son’s middle name is LaVell, after my grandpa. When I told him about LaVel on the team he immediately said that “he’s part of the LaVell family” and loved watching him play. LaVel was always so nice when Luke would come around. Prayers for his family from our LaVel family.
