Shapovalov def. Ruud 7-6 (5), 6-3 to win the 2025 Dallas Open and his 1st indoor title. Not the first nor the last time I will have been wrong. I’d still make the same call though. Shapo earned this the hard way. The draw didn’t open up for him - beat 3 top 10ers in a row.
Short of redlining like he (pretty much) did vs. Tommy Paul, it will be very difficult for Shapo to hit through Ruud. Shapo’s highest level is higher than Ruud’s but, other than that, Ruud is clearly the better player. Ruud should win in straights.
