@thepastisyours @sjennings1501 @MartinSLewis I would suggest itā€™s also about risk. Drawdown is still subject to potential stock market downturns but an annuity you know what youā€™re getting and can have a worry free retirement (at least for length of annuity).

@SueG1066 @hbkvic @MartinSLewis Thereā€™s no ā€˜pension potā€™ with a DB scheme so the 25% is not applicable. There may be a tax free sum but that would be dictated in the rules of the DB scheme.

@canido_steve @hbkvic @MartinSLewis Unless you sacrifice into a pension, then itā€™s all tax free (within the 3 year contribution limit rules)

@WiseOldOwls @NickNickbriscoe @MartinSLewis If Martin explains crystallised/un-crystallised money, people will then understand that itā€™s possible to take more than the point in time 25% value of your pot tax free (up to the Ā£268k limit) as long as the pot grows over time.

@griffitha This schooner element is utter nonsense. All it does is give customers choice about whether they want a half, a schooner or a pint. The bill isnā€™t legislating the scrapping of a pint. This measure is what they have in Australia and it allows for more consumer choice.

@MartinSLewis My first ever job at age 18 was a civil service pensions administrator. It taught me the huge importance of financial planning for your future. Writing this after retiring at age 55.

@implausibleblog Wonder if Richard was stuck behind a load of non UK passport holders? If he wasnā€™t and UK passports could join the EU line then all those UK passport holders would still be in front of him in the ā€˜EUā€™ queue šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

@deepanshu_s @MartinSLewis Wrong. There are many types of Annuity and you can choose how itā€™s set up yourself. Plenty continue to pay to beneficiaries after death. In the video itā€™s not made clear that you donā€™t have to use all of your post tax free fund to buy an annuity.
