Okay I think I get it. Watching Evangelion and only Evangelion without any other Mecha shows is the anime equivalent of only reading Watchmen and never picking up any other DC comic. You're missing info on how its a deconstruction and as such can't completely contextualize it.

Not true. We've attempted/tested DNR'd 16mm as well using similar techniques and the results have also been very good. This is a third generation 16mm print, same ones Funi used for DBZ. Those guys just had no idea what they were doing at all.

I was talking about this the other day. This reveals a complete lack of malice in this depiction of Superman but rather complete incompetence. If they really had a bone to pick with how Superman is depicted they never would have admitted this. They think they're the cool kids.

I feel the criticism is somewhat fair. Animat just worded it in the worst possible way. Nostalgia Critic/Doug put it into words better
