This is true, it’s always been true since the very beginning. Putin traded all those lives just to have control over Ukraine’s resources.
Here is why Trump, Musk, and co are desperate for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia and implement a "buffer zone", Russia has essentially lost the war and will not be able to hold any occupied territory without outside collaborators. They aren't negotiating peace, they are negotiating the plunder.
