Texas Game Wardens assigned to Cameron county rescued 141 sea turtles from the frigid waters of the Brownsville Ship Channel and surrounding bays. The sea turtles were transported via the PV Murchison, operated by Sgt. Game Warden Duke and B/M Bowers-Vest.

A Texas Game Warden was flagged down this afternoon in Hidalgo County by the mother of an infant who was unresponsive. The Game Warden used his medical training to save the child’s life. EMS arrived shortly and provided additional medical care.

While conducting early morning patrol in the Gulf of Mexico today, Texas Game Wardens removed 6 miles of illegal long-line gear. The long-line contained various species of sharks that were still alive indicating that the gear had been recently set. Fish released; line recovered.

On October 23rd, thanks to some social media bragging by a local resident, a Texas Game Warden stationed in Angelina County was able to secure a full confession on the illegal killing of a large whitetail buck from the public road at night with a rifle during bow season.

Texas Game Wardens out of Jefferson County checked two fisherman this morning who were found to be fishing without a valid Texas fishing license. The fishermen were also found to be in possession of 27 black drum, 20 of which were oversized. All fish were seized and donated.

Captain of the shrimp boat was issued a citation for the Cobia; the deckhands arrested for the shark fins.

Tyler County Game Warden Roy Eddins helped to rescue an eagle today that was struck by a vehicle and sustained a broken leg. This majestic bird is expected to undergo treatment to get it back to full strength and then it will be released back into the wild.

A fawn fell into a coal hopper at a power plant in Goliad County. The local warden and a plant employee were able to climb into the hopper and catch him.
The doe came running when they walked outside.
He was reunited with momma, with just a little coal dust to show for it.

On 04/18/20 Nueces County Game Warden Sam Padgett responded to a 911 call about several kayakers who were overturned and swept away from their kayaks. Warden Padgett was able to launch a vessel and rescue both young men. In appreciation they presented him with this plaque.
