After 6 years, I was laid off at Epic. Dope time, amazing peeps, unforgettable memories.
Most know it’s been incredibly rough for me and this complicates things even more. I’m hospital level with my health this week and Niki and I just bought our first home 3 weeks ago. Cool.

Haven’t had time to sort out thoughts - but I will say this: At Epic, I showed that I could run an entire creator program on EGS w/ little support. It was complicated but I made sure creators, partners, and Epic were all represented/cared for.
I can build that again for you.

Things don't always work out in your favor, that's for sure. I'm just a bit confused as to how me getting dx'd w/ a chronic disease turned most people I know against me. I'm grinding through it on a daily basis and being about it. This ish isn't going to slow me down.

Closed on the house today. Officially a homeowner. Absolute nightmare process with several large obstacles but Step 1 is done - the house is ours.
Movers on the 30th + 31st. We cleaned a ton today, and have a bunch more to do tomorrow. And much more after that.

It wasn’t perfect but I worked my tail off - even with next to no resources and moving finish lines.
Wouldn’t trade that experience. Now I need to apply it elsewhere. Looking for senior roles where applicable. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Today was my last official day with EPIC. Most people know but I had to leave because of my declining health. Dream job and the coolest thing that happened to me but my health just wasn’t about it. Thankful, frustrated, and many other emotions but it is what it is.

Well peeps, couldn’t push off avoiding a hospital admission any longer. Been at Duke since 1pm trying to get some temporary relief with fluids, monitoring, and pain management.
I was here 3 weeks ago and waited in the ER 14/17 hours. This time I was directly admitted.

1 full year out of the hospital today. That ain’t no joke. It’s a grind but it’s the best one. I have the perfect people around me to keep that gas in the tank, no matter what. Keeeeeeeeeeeep it movin’.

Waited 6+ months for an appointment at Duke. Met a smart doc today that feels what’s going on and is ready to tackle this. Feels good but it just reminds me how scary this is and how sick I am. I told him one thing, and just like I tell everyone else, I’m still about it. Period.

Niki had her first interview with Duke (where I'm treated) on Friday. The CRNA position would start next October after she passes the boards. 2nd interview next Wednesday.

I guess the closing, painful thought is that I wanted to work for Epic Games. I sacrificed so much to get there. Once I finally did get there in ‘17, I was then forced to leave my position for 9mths bc of my declining health. I re-interviewed my way back.

Tons of cable management to do but that’s something that’s physically tough for me - so another day. Got the LG 240hz 27” to the right, the new curved 34” 175hz QD-OLED Alienware in the middle + an extra 1440p portrait/vertical for spreadsheets/docs on the left. Insane quality.

Well, I was home for like 10 hours from my last admission - but now I’m back at the hospital again and admitted for awhile. But at least we got some ball to watch - with the Lakers seemingly attempting to break turnover records.

Relieved that my family is covered. Still have to be vigilant + take all the previous precautions. The variants are scary and this isn’t bulletproof.

6 years ago today I started at Epic, a couple weeks before Fortnite (Save the World) launched.
In a single weekend - I left the med field, accepted the contracted role (significantly less $), + moved from NJ to NC for the 1st time in my life. Truly absurd call to make.

A year ago today I woke up in the Cardiac ICU after not being alive for a bit while already in the hospital for some severe complications with my ongoing ish.
I’m thankful to be here. Thankful to be in the position I’m in. I’m thankful for my family and the peeps around me.

Feeling absolutely terribly physically (admittedly mentally too) because I’ve been packing up my apartment on a negative gas tank. But - I’m moving and driving back to South Jersey/Philly today and I’m really excited to head home. I hope I’ll be able to rest. That’s the goal.

Little late and feelin’ super rough since I tried to do too much the past few days but for good reason. Being surrounded by family was a nice boost (and all of the pugs). It was frigid outside but the warmth inside both figuratively and literally solved that.

Got to Raleigh in under 7 hours which is absolutely unheard of for me. I was already feelin’ pretty poorly so I’m definitely going to be ridin’ high pain levels in bed for the next few days.

Gotta take the pup out still - 8 degrees or not. We were only out for 15 seconds to get the job done but had to make sure she was covered.
It was actually a functional get-up. One thick coat for the under-lining, her other coat on top and Niki’s thick headband tucked in.
