What a year! 🎆 We're no stranger to change at TDT, but 2024 has been a particular firecracker of exciting new programmes, big decisions, and fresh ideas. Thank you to our team, partners, and every person who's taken a programme or shared their expertise with us this year - your trust, insights, and enthusiasm help us to grow in our ability to pave the way for teachers to thrive and for children to succeed. 🌟 To share just a few highlights... ❇️ We ran our first Building Expert Schools Programme to rave reviews, and are now planning our second cohort ❇️ In February, we released our findings on "Creating a CPD entitlement for teachers that works" ❇️ We received an "Outstanding" Ofsted report ❇️ We made the values-lead decision to step back from delivering future NPQs ❇️ We bade a fond farewell to our founder, David Monis-Weston, and welcomed Gareth Conyard as our sole CEO ❇️We continued development on our AI tool for teacher development, spoke about it at the NYC Salesforce World Tour, and began to test it with audiences ❇️ The tenth cohort of our flagship CPD Leadership Programme graduated the course ❇️ We ran another successful, insightful conference and announced a new annual event - The David-Monis Weston Lecture

We are delighted to announce the inaugural David Monis-Weston Lecture, set to debut next April 🎉. This annual event, hosted by the Teacher Development Trust, will invite the most innovative minds in professional development for education to share insights, explore cutting-edge evidence, and inspire us to elevate our aspirations for the future. Named in honor of our founder and first CEO, now Emeritus Director, David Monis-Weston, this lecture series aims to be a cornerstone for thought leadership in education. We are honored that David himself will deliver the first lecture next spring. While attendance is invite-only, we will record the lecture and make it accessible to everyone. We will be sharing more information as the event approaches. You can find more information on this exciting addition to the sector's calendar here:

With the Autumn Budget upcoming for the UK Government, it's a productive time to reflect on the 8 recommendations we made to policy makers for a better CPD entitlement for teachers earlier this year. We remain clear that we need long term thinking that puts professionalism, meaningful impact and collaboration with teachers at the core of education policy. You can read our full report here:

Supporting schools to make the best choices for their staff is important to us at TDT. Below, you can find our full announcement on why we are stepping back from delivering the so-called ‘golden thread’ government contracts. While we commit to continuing to support our existing NPQ participants, we have decided against future cohorts. Instead, we will focus on our core purpose, empowering school leaders to make the best possible decisions about professional development.
