🚨 Excited to present our latest project in @JACCJournals ! 🚨 Our study reveals how elevated Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels 📈 significantly impact myocardial fibrosis & cardiac remodeling. Key insights: 🔍 Analyzing 2040 participants from the MESA cohort, we found an association between higher Lp(a) levels & increased myocardial fibrosis, as shown by CMR T1 mapping 🧬 These associations are independent of other CV events, aortic valve disease, or traditional risk factors. 💡Elevated Lp(a) ➡️ higher extracellular volume fraction (ECV%) & native T1 time (markers of myocardial fibrosis), myocardial scar prevalence, left atrial enlargement, & dysfunction. 🔬 This finding positions Lp(a) as a key risk factor for adverse cardiovascular outcomes, including heart failure likely through subclinical myocardial fibrosis. 🔥 A significant leap forward in understanding the link between Lp(a) & heart failure and what we can do to prevent disease progression using #whyCMR! #CardioResearch #HeartHealth #Cardiotwitter #lipoproteina #CVD #prevention 🩺🔬🫀 As always, I am extremely grateful for the opportunities offered at @hopkinsheart @HopkinsMedicine and to the amazing mentors at the @CiccaroneCenter @WendyPost9 @seamuswhelton @aknabdMD Michael Tsai Joao Lima. @HopkinsMedNews

There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding multimodal LLMs in medicine. At the @HiesingerLab we’ve been building Almanac Chat for over 6 months alongside our collaborators and we’re excited to showcase the first preview! • Almanac Chat is the first truly multimodal medical LLM trained across specialties and modalities (i.e. images, text, video and audio) to serve as a generalist clinical copilot. • The entire stack (e.g. server, client, ML pipeline) is developed and hosted locally to guarantee privacy and flexibility at inference time. • We're looking forward to evaluating our model alongside domain experts at @StanfordMed in Q2 2024. • We have a a lot more exciting things on the way - see if you can spot a few teasers in the video! 👥: We’re looking to scale our team, model, and hardware.
