Whatever side you stand on for this conflict, this girl is an inspiration for the world. She has been uploading videos since the bombings of Gaza began and has detailed the suffering of innocent Palestinians. She has finally made it home and although her home and materials are destroyed, she maintains a heart full of love and optimism.

Hamas was not in the catholic church in Gaza when the IDF decided to massacre special needs people as well as Catholic nuns. My point is if a murderer kills some people in town square and then hides in a school, the police do not have the right to blow up the school with all the children aside. Unfortunately, Israel’s actions have solidified support for Hamas among the Palestinian people. Prior to October 7th, Israel would routinely “mow the lawn”. Operations such as Protective Edge and Cast Lead have led to the death of thousands of Palestinians. The violent occupation led by Israel against the Palestinians has empowered Hamas as a resistance group throughout the years. I do not condone the violence committed by Hamas, but I understand the resistance by the Palestinians. We need to work towards peace which starts with a two state solution based on pre-1967 borders. I highly recommend the book by Jewish writer, Norman Finklestein, GAZA, An inquest into its Martyrdom. History did not begin on October 7th and it won’t end with the expulsion of all Palestinians from Gaza to build the “Riviera of the Middle East”. That would solidify the presumption of genocide as detailed by the ICJ. Antisemitism is wrong. Criticizing the foreign policy of a government is not antisemitism. We should all be working towards peace and we cannot bomb our way into it.
