למרות אורכה, אני מציע לקרוא במלואה את כתבתו המצמררת של רונן ברגמן, אחד העיתונאים היותר מקצועיים ואמינים שיש במחוזותינו. שימו לב לדברים שאמר לברגמן גורם מודיעני-בטחוני: "רוב החטופים במחנות המרכז היו בדירות ומעל הקרקע. אחרי מבצע ארנון [המבצע ביוני 24' בו חולצו ארבעה חטופים. ע.כ], החטופים הורדו למנהרות. הושמו בצפיפות, בלי תנאים, והיה קשה להביא להם אוכל לזמן ארוך. מה שראינו בשבת הן התוצאות של המבצע ההוא. לא מדברים על זה פה אבל זה מה שקרה". ומוסיף ברגמן: "הממשלה עסקה בחשאי בתוכנית של טראמפ מזמן, אולי בגלל זה לא היה זמן להתפנות לחטופים. ולא רק שאף אחד, כולל לא באופוזיציה המרכזית, לא קם להגיד שמדובר על מעשה רודני וגזעני ובוודאי בלתי-חוקי ברמה של פשעי מלחמה – אף אחד לא שם לב שבעצם מסיחים את דעת הקהל עם עולם הפנטזיה החדש בריאליטי חטופים, מהחטופים עצמם. נתניהו לא רק שלא רוצה עסקה אלא שכצפוי, וכפי שהזהרנו כאן פעמים רבות, ההצהרות שלו ושל מקורביו כי ישראל תחזור להילחם ויהי מה סיבכו את המצב באופן כה קשה שמקשיח את עמדות חמאס באופן כזה שלא משנה מה ישראל תצהיר ותתחייב – הרי שאפילו אם נתניהו יתרצה להודיע על סיום המלחמה, התנאי לחתימה על השלב השני, הוא מתכוון להפר את הפסקת האש ברגע שכל החטופים ישוחררו. 'במצב הזה, איזו סיבה יש למושלים ברצועה, מוחמד סינוואר ועז א-דין חדאד, לחתום?' שאל הגורם הביטחוני-מודיעיני."

Anyone who cared about No Other Land should care about what is actually happening on the ground: today our water tanks, 9 homes and 3 ancient caves were destroyed. Masafer Yatta is disappearing in front of my eyes. Only one name for these actions: ethnic cleansing.

@IshiAmmi @ScottforIndi @HillelNeuer That is just plain denial of history. When the archives were opened in 1988 and 1998 it was clearly documented by Israeli historians as well. Hagana fighters confirm it. Palestinians knew all along because of their family stories and fotos.

@IshiAmmi @TomPMarshall @ScottforIndi @HillelNeuer If you asked the Liechtensteiners to move to Switzerland, bc the Germans wanted the land, both Lichtenstein and Swiss would rightfully say no. After 1945 it was agreed in the UN Charter that nobody should be evicted. If Israel doesn't agree, they shouldn't have signed the charter

@ScottforIndi @IshiAmmi @TomPMarshall @HillelNeuer She wouldn't. The people were displaced from 400 villages that were emptied and cities like Jaffa, Haifa and Acre Nakba-Denial doesn't help anyone. You can find out more on this "clickable" map.

@GlobeStrobe @the500th_ @IL_police I don't think anybody enjoys it. It's time for the leaders to stop fear-mongering and dehumanizing "the others" and start serious peace talks.
When I was growing up in the 1960’s and 70’s a statement like this was inconceivable, and a vast majority of Israelis would have celebrated it. And now, here it is (and has been for years). Are there risks? Of course. But that’s what leaders are for.

@GlobeStrobe @the500th_ @IL_police I think it is wrong because it usually implies more casualties than a compromise, often ethnic cleansing. It reminds me of "Endlösung" in WW2.

@Rajaizaghal @Spottingpsyops @MissBeehave1992 @IL_police Even if it were only 1%, I think it would be important to make the distinction. Never judge individuals based on stereotypes, majorities or prejudices. It is racist.

@GlobeStrobe @the500th_ @IL_police I think Palestinians should get freedom + be allowed to say it. I grew up in the region and am sick & tired of this conflict not getting resolved. Israelis would be safer if the leaders finally conceded to a compromise instead of taking more and more land.
