The ball handler will choose which direction they're going, which triggers the offence to go opposite, and the defence to give chase Once the ball handler gets to their cone, they need to make a crossover and time it to hit the cutter on the move so they can finish

Players line up Offence, Defence, Offence, the cutter can choose which direction they want to go, to get around the cone. The defence has to go around the same cone and give chase to contest The passer has to make the pass with 1 hand timing the pass to finish

The D can choose which side the ball goes to, and who they will then have to defend. The O dives looking to post, and the D’s goal is to not allow them over their chest to post them up Play live until a stop, or a score. The passer can also be an additional shooter if needed

One of the age old debates in coaching, is do you teach the system first, or the skill set? And even then, do you start with the offence or the defence? How do you become time efficient, over the course of a season with limited practice time?

When the passer tells them to go, players run around the outside of the cone, with the first person through on offence The passer is allowed to move to make their entry pass As soon as you're on offence, the goal is to post up as close as you can to keep the defence on your back

Things that scare us was the topic this week, thanks to our listeners for their submissions! And the quote that Rob butchered was: “You say ‘amateur’ as if it was a dirty word. ‘Amateur’ comes from the Latin word ‘amare’, which means to love. To do things for the love of it.”

Finishing at pace has been a big emphasis, so another way to start The D is in control and can choose which way they want to drop the ball. The O should be looking to try and score in a max of 2 dribbles, checking over their shoulder for the D to finish in their opposite hand

Appreciation Post. Here’s to our coaches. They sacrifice their time, care more than anything, work incredibly hard and are often saddled with confrontation and stress. We have so much gratitude for the coaches in our system and in our sport

Back to getting reps finishing under pressure, walling up to contest on the finish, but also working on reaction times and anticipation for the players. Whenever the player (or coach) says “go”, whoever has the ball is on offence and the other player is on defence

One of our favourites this week, as this variation of 2 v 1 gets high repetitions, game based decision making and finishing under pressure. Various rules you can modify for this like adding dribble/pass limits, or bonus points for creativity on pass or finish

Quick 1 v 1 drill to get lots of reps, and work on finishing under pressure at pace. O has to go in the direction the ball is passed (great to work on a players weaker hand), D has to touch the opposite elbow to challenge. Various scoring systems on offer to get a winner too!

Fantastic example of engaging the parents early, getting everyone on the same page, and by reminding them what’s important and why! 👏
