As a student driver my dad explained letting everyone else go 1st is nice to them but rude to those behind me I couldn’t see. Progressivism is being a “good person” for “compassion” to those in front of you while never thinking about the consequences to those not in front of you.
It's one of the weirder and most disorienting properties of our modern discourse that it's routine to be called heartless/racist/classist/etc for advocating the exact policies one would want applied to their *own children* on the grounds that the alternatives are in fact quite.
