But withdrawing from the WHO would be a huge setback and self-inflicted mistake. The White House should reconsider that decision, and Congress should not go forward in the process of withdrawal. / end

When bad events do happen in the world, WHO is a key international coordinating organization and helps to organize and make the responses of countries faster and more efficient – without that the US would be doing that work alone. 5/x

Our federal health agencies have longstanding science and technical partnerships with WHO that have helped make the US stronger and better informed – those ties would be broken. 4/x

WHO provides early warning about what's happening around the world. It also helps countries that are trying to prevent and rapidly respond to new epidemics -- those events are more likely to happen and spread to the US without strong support from WHO and its partners. 2/x

It's strongly against US interests to withdraw from @WHO -that decision should be reconsidered and reversed. Leaving WHO would hurt the US in many ways and communicate that we dont care about the work of improving health in other parts of the world. 1/x
