Spot her long illicium (the "fishing rod" formed by the first ray of the dorsal fin), about 1.5 times her body length with a #bioluminescent white lure at the end. Further analysis will determine if this fish is one of 3 rarely seen or sampled species or a new species altogether!

Effortless floater seen during #ChileMargin2024. Glass squid are filled w/ammonium chloride, making them lighter than ocean water & able to spend their time following the current to the next meal or mate.
