It’s no surprise

chose The Alchemist. Like many have learned after reading it in Senior English, or you will learn when you take the course, “People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.” The Alchemist is a game changer.

These are not my words but these are my thoughts. Seniors, I think of you daily and this situation we’re in is not ideal whatsoever. I hope you know I will do my best to continue to support you and help you through this time

John Quincy Adams said it best: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” This senior class has truly inspired our entire community to dream more, learn more, do more and become more. Thank you for leadership 💚
Every Saturday morning I wake up and read every article about the Aurora Greenmen football team’s Friday night game. 🏈 These guys work so hard on the field and in the classroom; I’m proud to have 9 of these seniors in class this year. Way to go, Greenmen! 💚🙌🏻(📷

Brooke & I have a new look for 2021 after having a total of 22 inches of hair cut yesterday. This marked the third time for each of us donating our hair to a good cause. We are donating our blonde locks to

The Taylor family grew by 4 paws this week. Meet Lucy, a sweet pup who was in need of a loving family. She and Jewel are the best dog sisters. She loves snuggling and listening to books (of course!). 💕

I became Mrs. Taylor 11 years ago today 🥰 It was such a hot day that Josh’s fingers were so swollen that the ring didn’t fit on his finger 🤣 It was a memorable day for many reasons. 💗
All chairs are lined up and the stage is currently being built. One more day, Greenmen!! 🎓💚 See you all at 9:00 a.m. in the home bleachers!

The bell rang to start school & I’m missing our Monday morning chats where I hear about your weekends. 😔 I hope you got outside, enjoyed reading a book (maybe The Kite Runner), and had some enjoyable family time. We had a game night, watched Angry Birds 2 and Spies in Disguise.
I know there’s no “right” words to say to these guys. They are the epitome of teamwork and have a lot to be proud of. They brought our community even more together. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. We 💚 our Greenmen.
Our big weekend event: Both kids learned how to ride bikes yesterday! 🙌🏻🚲🙌🏻 We’ve been waiting for this day!!! They’re already asking when the rain will stop today to get back out there 😊 Have a great Monday!
I’m still processing the amazing events of Senior Week 💚 Thank you to the seniors, senior parents,
@HarmonHighPTO
, all staff members of the ACSD, custodial staff, grounds crew, Aurora PD,

. Enjoy a little snippet of each event (more to come this weekend).
Senior, Mason Kacmar, had one epic final performance as a Greenman where he noted the graduates’ courage, perseverance, and successes.

The senior class quote says much about this graduating class of 217 Greenmen. 🩷 The next time we’ll be together like this again will be in 119 days at graduation 🫶🏻

Grateful to be honored at the
@W_Soccer_AHS
’s soccer game on Staff Appreciation Night by one of my students I had in Exploring Popular Literature last year. Skylar is an avid reader, a sweet and smart girl, and a talented soccer player. I’m very happy books brought us together 📚
She’s the reason I love so hard and care so deeply for all of you. I’m glad I can be your “mom” at school, whether that be in the classroom, in the bleachers, or in the audience. I’m proud to have you as my “children.” 💕.
Thank you to Camryn Cohn, Devin Allen, Payton Griffith, and Leonel Sesuraj for giving speeches at graduation that were inspirational, thoughtful, and reflective. 💚

As most of my students know, I’m not good with goodbyes. I don’t like to acknowledge that you leave me.🥺However, as I reflect on my 15th year teaching, I’m grateful for the memories we made. I looked forward to going to school daily because of YOU. Thank you 💚
Today in Pop. Lit., we used
@bradmeltzer
’s book series, “Ordinary People Change the World,” to not only learn how books impacted these people’s lives, but used them to reflect on how books have impacted OUR lives & how they continue to do so.

Seniors have voted. Here is the senior class of 2023’s motto 😊 This quote will be printed on graduation announcements, the graduation program, & the baccalaureate program; it will also be referenced in graduation speeches.
@AHS_MH
Lulu’s graduation speech reminded us what it means to be Greenmen: “Green evokes powerful emotions…it’s a symbol of luck…it’s support through [shared] adversities… it’s growth and lushness…Most importantly, it’s the true lifeblood of Greenmen Nation.”💚

My friend’s 5 yo daughter, Maddie, was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, in November. With her permission I am sharing her story & pictures from last night. Many of you donated blood this year & THIS is why it’s so important. Thank you! ❤️
@RedCross
Sorry I wasn’t myself today, Seniors. Feeling under the weather isn’t fun (as you know), and I’m not good with “Goodbyes.” This year went so fast and my days will not be the same without all 115 of you present. See you at prom and graduation!!

“I’d love to hear about the celebrations after you graduate. I want to hear about college or jobs, offer advice or a shoulder to cry on, give you a hug, go to your weddings, send baby presents. I don’t stop loving you once you walk across that stage” ❤️
We got mail today in our Creative Writing class from our kindergarten pen pals!!! These high school students’ faces lit up opening their letters and drawings from their little Greenmen friends. Thank you,

It was a special night & I’m grateful that McKennah selected me as her Honored Educator. She’s a lovely person & the sunshine one needs in life ☀️🩷 I’m fortunate to have had 4 of these Outstanding Greenmen in class this year; my heart explodes with pride & love for them. 💚🖤🤍

captured some AMAZING pictures from Friday’s Powder Puff game. Way to be victorious, Seniors!! 👏 (check out all of Daniel’s photos here: )
Why should Halloween parties end after elementary school?! 🎃 Pop. Lit. students brought in goodies to enjoy & share while watching a Halloween movie based on a book: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Thank you for bringing in drinks and treats, readers! 😊
The Outstanding Greenmen Award is given to 12 deserving seniors who are chosen based on their strong academics, service/work, school participation, leadership and character.
Being recognized by an Outstanding Greenman is an honor. Thank you, Mitchel 💚
Senior planning never ends! The Taylor ladies ensured all 250 seniors have their caps, gowns, and tassels. ✅ They’ll be ready to be picked up on May 15th at the Senior Slideshow.

We looked forward to this day all year: the Pop. Lit. book exchange! After eating some delicious treats & drinking Shirley Temples, we were ready to unwrap books & add another book to our winter reading list. 📚🥰 Thank you all for a wonderful semester! Happy reading!
Welcome back! It’s a big day today: your last first day of high school. 😁 Smile for your parents who want to take your picture 💚 It’s a memorable day for many 😊 Let’s make it a great year!

Today is bittersweet for me, as the majority of my senior students embark on internship starting tomorrow. I’m fortunate to teach such amazing young adults & interact with them daily. We ended class today with their final journal response of the year. 💚

I’m forever grateful for my Pop. Lit. classes. Pop. Lit. was created to provide time during the school day for young adults to read what they want, talk to each other about books & give book recommendations to each other. These amazing young adults know that readers are leaders.
The Pop. Lit. book exchange was the perfect activity to lead into winter break! So many great books unwrapped and ready to be read! Thank you for a wonderful semester, Pop.Lit. crew! Happy reading!

As my past seniors venture into college courses and onto college campuses within the next couple of weeks, I can’t help but reflect on the class of 2020. You’ve truly touched my heart and I can’t wait to see how you impact the world; you sure have impacted me ❤️ 😊
I love hearing about seniors’ internship experiences. Whether it’s learning from a photographer, school teacher, or small business, seniors gain so much knowledge to use in their future endeavors.

I told B I had to grade more papers today and walked into this. I thanked her for how cute it looked and asked if they’ll grade the papers for me. She said, “They’re trying to keep you from grading.” 💕 Unfortunately, their plan won’t work 😊
