Atlantic cutlassfish are also known as a ribbonfish in Texas. They do not have any scales, but their long, tapered bodies are covered with shiny, metallic silver skin. The body conformation is cutlass-like, tapering from the head to a pointed tail. #25DaysofFishmas

Alligator gar can live for many decades and grow very fast when young, but growth slows with age. Generally, for every additional foot the fish grows, its age doubles. In Texas, they may be found in large rivers and reservoirs, as well as in coastal bays. #25DaysofFishmas
