Magic Kingdom Land Logos- found in a 1991 guide map. Mickey's Starland was originally Mickey's Birthdayland and became Mickey's Toontown in 1996. That area is currently the Storybook Circus section of Fantasyland.

This concept art from 1988 shows one of the very first rough ideas for an attraction based on the Disney feature film "The Little Mermaid" (1989). After many false starts, a dark ride was finally built at Disney's California Adventure in 2011, and at The Magic Kingdom in 2012.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney/MGM Studios. It opened in August of 1989 just a few months after the park. Notice how the original version of the show used swastikas on the enemy vehicles. These were later removed.

We recently came into possession of this interesting photo- of what appears to be the "Eastern Winds", a Chinese junk ship that was docked at the Polynesian Resort from 1971 to 1978. The back of the photo is dated Oct 1971 with a hand-written "Disney World" note.

Dinosaurs! The most memorable part and most advertised part of The Universe of Energy was the scene with the Dinosaurs. Disney reused designs from the 1964 Worlds Fair (later Disneyland) in this scene meant to show the origin of fossil fuels.

"Listen to the Land" was the big draw in The Land pavilion- a boat ride through a working green house. The attraction survives mostly intact to this day as "Living with the Land."

The Land pavilion was another opening day area at Epcot. A fully indoor "land", it contained three attractions as well as a table service and quick service restaurant. Its popularity was renewed in the 2000s when "Soarin'" was added to the complex.

The Universe of Energy was one of the big opening day attractions at Epcot. Part of the electrical needs of the ride were provided by the then state-of-the-art solar panels on the roof. Notice the line out the door- a common sight at Future World in the early days.

Spaceship Earth, the attraction, still operates to this day some 40 years later. Many of the original scenes still remain, although altered. The first animatronics one encounters on the ride are these- of early man communicating through cave paintings.

For my last visit in July, I grabbed some Chester & Hester Dinorama buttons, faithfully reproduced by @TPPSociety . If/when Dinoland goes the way of its namesake, try (if you can) to visit Dinosaur World off I-4. Not the same, but it does offer a slice of roadside dino charm. 🦖
