While the penitents have sickle bayonets, their purpose is more connected with political insult than usage.
Most of the Penitent conscripts were members of the Communist Party - thus, said conscripts carry government-issued rusted detachable sickles bayonets into combat.

Once Humans become infected with the Lilithian Disease, a dormant gene called "The Elysian Parasite" activates, causing infected women to mutate and transform into said abominations.
