What part of testing for autism wasn't common until very recently, aren't you grasping? With more testing and awareness, yes, it will seem as if cases are soaring. Most were misdiagnosed with adhd as children and were correctly diagnosed with autism too.
The wide acceptance is not why numbers are rising. I do not think jumping from 1 in 79 in 2019 to 1 in 36 now is because of evals going up. Evals are going up because there are more cases. Simple. Nothing more.
