The NET rewards teams for margin of victory. We don’t regularly blow out inferior teams and therefore don’t jump up the rankings. Just keep winning.
This is not to say that Memphis' seeding prospects would not improve (or get worse) if the Tigers' NET placement got significantly better (or worse). But it seems the bracketologists agree that Memphis' NET/seeding situation is different than most.

Memphis now has *13 TOs* to go w/ 2 assists. Shotmaking hasn't been great — Tigers shooting 7-21 (33.3%) FG — but biggest prob has been how many extra shot opportunities WSU has gotten due to the TOs. Shockers have 27 FG attempts — shooting 10-27 (37%) — compared to Tigers' 21.

Not surprising to put together arguably your worst performance immediately after reports that your head coach is interested in another job have come out
Coming off the heels of the last few practices being “fantastic” (per the Commercial Appeal), Memphis played its arguably worst game of the season. The fact that this game was even close, given Memphis’ uncharacteristic struggles, is mind-boggling. Q2 road loss isn’t the end, but it’s concerning that they put together their arguably worst performance of the season after “fantastic” practices.
