Together with @spc_cps and @TuvaluMET, TCAP’s training efforts in Nui and Vaitupu among men, women, youth and people with disabilities aim to improve knowledge of coastal inundation risks and sea level rise. Next year, the team will visit other outer islands.

🌍 It is commonly thought that sea level rise information already exists in the Pacific, but much of the data available is outdated. Before TCAP, no other climate change project had even measured land height above sea level across Tuvalu:

This morning the Government of Tuvalu and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pacific Office, together with development partners and community members, celebrated the official handover of 7.3 hectares of reclaimed land from the first phase of the TCAP project.

Upon completion of the first phase of TCAP, the Kaupule will take responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the completed infrastructure with the support from local government and a designated minister from Nanumea. Find out more here:
