This photo of the Belsen Jewish Memorial at the site of the Bergen-Belsen POW and concentration camp comes from a remarkable set of WW2 photographs by Swindonian Mr R. Partridge that were shared with us during our ‘Swindon at War’ weekend in 2010. #HMD2025

This delightfully dapper little dog was brought to a professional photographer’s studio to have its portrait taken. It must have been a much loved member of an Edwardian family. #EYAFamily

This is a c.1850 illustration of GWR Firefly Class Locomotive The Actaeon, named after the figure in Greek mythology. Actaeon caught sight of the goddess Artemis bathing while he was out hunting. She turned him into a stag and he was ripped apart by his own dogs. #EYAMythology

Good news everyone, McIlroys have received a huge delivery of twisted cocoa door mats, from the continent no less! This was part of a larger McIlroys advert placed in the North Wilts Herald in 1924. #EYAHuge
