While that is true, it's more complicated than that. Bisexuality definitely existed in its more base forms, ergo, as someone who can be in sexual relations with either. Preferential or notions of exclusivity, however, largely only applied with women. Unlike bisexuality which can apply to men. That said, bisexuality is closer and broader, thus more applicable to historical persons than modern notions of gay. Which he almost certainly wasn't.
