Our major news site still peddles the debunked "Russian influence" thesis on the #Romania elections and leaves out the reason behind Ioannidis' resignation: The fact that it turned out to be his party that had paid for the dubious Tik Tok campaign.

@razibkhan Friend-enemy isn't a good way to go, it's the way to groupthink and polarisation and ignoring stuff that needs attention but doesn't favor your side's narrative so you pretend it doesn't exist or is no problem when it is..

@Mr_Juise @AI_Crusade @MarinaMedvin @Forresterq12 They were not deliberately starved either, and the attempt to make them pay reparations was stopped after a few years, as it endangered the success of communist East Germany.

@TheRabbitHole84 Strangely, China or Vietnam don't look like that. Could it be that North Korea's situation might have something to do with sanctions, or some other facto?

@elonmusk Can we have a community note here? Yes, FEMA spent money on migrants, but is was not from its disaster budget. FEMA was used as the distributing agency of dedicated congress allocations to migrants.

@endWokeismNow @robbystarbuck @BreannaMorello Apparently, they aren't. "Separately from FEMA's Disaster Relief Fund, Congress allocated $640.9 million for services to noncitizen migrants in 2024."

@Astral_Defense @ggreenwald Prisoners of war need to be treated according to the rules, and that their side may have started the war, or is at fault in other ways, or has committed war crimes, in no way changes that.

@VECohn @swords_of_ @MarinaMedvin One must be deluded to think that any right at all derives from where anyone lived 2000 years ago or longer (there was a Jewish diaspora in Egypt and Iraq BCE). The Palis' right to be where they are is just as good as the right of Israeli Jews to Israel.

@swords_of_ @MarinaMedvin Dispersion didn't work so well with this other hot headed, fanatically nationalist population in the Levant, the guys who kept the dream of returning alive for 2000 years and finally did it.

@billings14921 @MarinaMedvin @Forresterq12 With rare exceptions, the industry was kept in perfectly good condition by the bombing. The only thing that was bombed and burned to smithereens was medieval city centers where civilians were sleeping.

@AI_Crusade @MarinaMedvin @Forresterq12 Starving millions in and post WWI was precisely what led to Hitler and the "Lebensraum" concept. What helped after WWII was chocolates given out by soldiers and Care packages. The Brits had little to eat themselves yet tried to somewhat improve the dire situation of Germans.

@JoyThorsbane @MarinaMedvin @Forresterq12 Occupation didn't work so well in Afghanistan or Iraq. Germans and Japanese are reasonable and civilized people who would choose peace and quiet and productive pursuits over war in most conditions, unless led astray or forced.

@RainerLOKeck @Regendelfin Es stimmt beides. Die Steuerversprechen sind irrwitzig und so nicht durchführbar, und das DIW ist nicht ganz unparteiisch.

@outbreakupdates Influenza A is now mostly the 2009 pandemic strain, which does occasionally lead to severe cases among younger people (compared to the strains immediately preceding it). But I agree that a precise identification of the strain is necessary in such cases.
