The forecast for Saturday and Sunday is looking sunny with a 100% chance of the Smith Point outer beach being open 😎Tomorrow, July 22, 2023 we will be opening the outer beach from Cut 1A to Cut 2, and fishermen only can drive Burma from Cut 2 to inlet.

Outstanding work by first responders, including our own Suffolk County Park Rangers this past weekend! Officers rescued a deer that fell through the ice in Narrow Bay off of Smith Point County Park on Sunday, January 23. A great job was done by all of the officers involved.
SCPD Marine Bureau officers responded to a deer stuck on the ice off Smith Point County Park on 1/23. A fawn had gotten stuck, half submerged in the icy water roughly 60 feet off shore.
The officers deployed an ice sled & were able to bring her to safety.
Good job to all!

Suffolk County Golf Courses open Monday April 27th by reservation only. It will be walking only. Tee times at 15 minute intervals and check in until 15 minutes before you tee time. Social distancing is mandatory. Sorry clubhouses closed.

TGIF comes with an outer beach update for Smith Point- another pair of plovers at Smith Point has successfully fledged their chicks! This means we're able to expand the day trip further east up to Cut 2. Burma Road access, fishermen only, will now be from Cut 2 east to the Inlet.

Announcement: The plover chicks at Shinnecock East have fledged, which means we can open the outer beach to both day tripping and camping. Starting tomorrow, 7/8, the outer beach is open to the barricades. Campers, please look for an email and phone call from Parks with details.

We are happy to report that the piping plovers at Shinnecock East have successfully raised 3 chicks to fledglings (can now fly)! We are immediately reopening today for daytripping and camping on our outer beach.
