"You're a middle manager for the worst empire in human history, in an extremely privileged position. Your privilege allows you to do something about this. It will cost you dearly in ways you cannot imagine; you will not be comfortable doing it. But you can. Do you?".
a huge problem that a lot of RPGs have is that doing the right thing is 'free', or even explicitly rewards you. rogue trader does let you try to do right, at a cost. if incurring costs from doing the right thing stops you, you aren't actually as good a person as you thought.

The most interesting thing about this change is that every single internal report, Hasbro says they want to reduce retail stock, retail presence and move to direct digital delivery of Flagship Brands like deedee. This is not done for profit reasons : it is done because they h.

I'm sorry what. "less million dollar ttrpg projects will happen". Good?!?!?. Not a single over million dollar ttrpg had been good, much less interesting, exciting or creative. And certainly nothing related to DND.
TTRPGs will become less interesting. Less exciting. Less creative. And despite all the new systems, it will also grow less diverse as it becomes even harder to make money in a TTRPG community broken into factions.

And of course, the role of the "police" is complicated over and over again with the history of the militia, and its origins as a remnant of the communist army, becoming a mutual aid focused on taking in orphans from the war, stepping into authority on the aftermath of a nuclear.
This is because “policeman” is a great frame for the question: will I help people, or stomp upon them.

Some clarity because everyone is missing the point: game design is an artform. As an artform, it can confidently speak for itself, because art is communication. Adding caveats shows lack of confidence, which affects my apriori confidence in a game's design: which coming into it.

TTRPGs destroyed.
After showing a stream of “El Paso, Elsewhere”’s references ranging from Die Hard (PS1) to Constantine to Sum 41, @WritNelson drops this reminder that should come at the end of every creative direction meeting. #gdc24

The thing is, indies often do better at this than Hasbro. Lancer just like 5e is unplayable, but gives the tolls for you to play it. 5e has the pay wall of Beyond that they broke since April.
Something I don’t think indie TTRPG Twitter is prepared to hear. When people say D&D 5e is the easiest TTRPG to learn, they’re right. This has little to do with its design and everything to do with the amount of resources, reference material, and cultural touchstones it has.

Most games are good and fun, able to achieve what they set to do. While making a great TTRPG is elusive and rare, it is even rarer to find a truly bad one.
@TTRPGifs Heck yeah, I want a positive version. Like, “what’s your TTRPG opinion that will people carrying you in their shoulders, shouting your praises in the streets?”

If I wrote this metaphor it would be called too forced and I would call myself a hack.
When I purchased Avatar Legends, I got the whole collector's edition thingy on Kickstarter with the beautiful obsidian dice and everything. One of my players yesterday made a roll (+passion!) and one of the dice fell on the ground and literally shattered 😭

@Elamimaxima Weird relationship with masculinity and authority as an overcompensation mechanism which utterly drains and destroys her to maintain.

Finally someone saying it.
a novel that dares to ask the question: what if a Starbucks manifested in the world of “D&D” and every logistical problem were brushed away with “someone else does it off screen, ig”?. what if we wrote a Discworld novel but without any jokes, wit, or memorable characters?

I love Tiberius, the binman of Ultramar, whose job is to clean bolter shells, never actually ever saw a xenos, and lives a comfortable life because he is getting a 20 Thrones stipend because he shares a name with a great uncle that served in the Guard and died in transit.

The most amusing thing is, because of its business practices benefitting from it, WotC really wants to believe that the appeal of DnD is Hasbro IP Glup Shittos.
The cast of the D&D cartoon grown up (from Uni and the Hunt for the Lost Horn adventure). Niko is a new character, "a Cleric from a different set of adventurers who recently tumbled into the D&D multiverse."

Here's my review: . It is a bad derivative game that is filled with Content to cover up the fact it is a barren copy of BitD that fails to understand what that game engine seeks to do and fails at either reproducing the show OR horror OR BitD.
DTRPG scrubbed all negative reviews of Candela Obscura from it's site? If DTRPG staff is willing to remove bad reviews from a game they like, then they are willing to remove good reviews from a game or adventure they don't. Namely "yours.".

I get this man so hard. He's a sci fi freak, he has no fantasy bone in him, he did not want to do that shit, so when he did it it was just kitbashing some history and when he needed to do fantasy, he dropped references to sci fi media. An effort was made, but no love.
George R.R. Martin when asked if there’s one thing he’d change about his books . “If I could change one thing. I’d have them finished” . (Source:
