@jemelehill When searching for examples of hypocrisy in politics, one need not look much futher than Jemele Hill's superb X account for some of the weakest examples on a nearly daily basis.

@whstancil I would say this is a decent argument against what you've just said. I wonder where Will comes down on this though.

@dieworkwear @logicbot3000 You can donate your portion then. It would be better to give the money to the lowest 10% of all people, or give it to disabled veterans. Wasting it because it's not very much spread around is the dumb guy answer.

@tbsama03 @JeffreyMicheli @Castantine @DreamLeaf5 @vanillaopinions Either way though, it has nothing to do with the electoral college. Not in any way someone on this thread has been able to articulate.

@tbsama03 @Castantine @JeffreyMicheli @DreamLeaf5 @vanillaopinions So everything is DEI then. Conservatives love the electoral college, but that's DEI for them. They don't want to get rid of it, but if they did, it would be DEI for liberals? Or DEI for everyone?

I don't see the point you're making. First, you say MD voted for 3 dem presidents. I had heard earlier that states don't vote for presidents. But my point is that in the current system, there are several low population blue states. So how is the EC DEI? No one seems to be able to explain that.

@Castantine @JeffreyMicheli @tbsama03 @DreamLeaf5 @vanillaopinions In the 90s, Florida was Blue. Of the 11 least populated states, 5 of them are reliably blue now. Does that make it DEI for hillbillies? The Rhode Island rednecks?

@tbsama03 @Castantine @JeffreyMicheli @DreamLeaf5 @vanillaopinions But a popular vote tries to be inclusive of all the voters. So is that also DEI? Because it satisfies the Inclusion part? I'm not getting the connection between DEI and EC from this explanation. Please elaborate.

@tbsama03 @JeffreyMicheli @Castantine @DreamLeaf5 @vanillaopinions What does it mean, and explain in the context of the electoral college?

The last line you wrote is a valid opinion one can have. The first line is an incorrect statement of fact. I would argue that the people elect the president insofar as each person is entitled to one vote in his state election which decides how that state will cast its electoral votes. But saying states don't elect the presidents is per se false.

Every president was elected via the electoral college. In 2012, the electoral college favored the democratic candidate. He had more popular votes, but did not need them to still win the election. And there are states currently that vote democratic that are overrepresented in the electoral college. Delaware is a pretty small state, isn't it?

@tbsama03 @DreamLeaf5 @vanillaopinions Not necessarily btw. There are states that are not conservative that have disproportionate representation via the electoral college. If you look in a history book, you may find a recent president from such a state.

@vanillaopinions No cause it's not asking for anything. It's pointing out how some people value only one kind of diversity while marinating in homogeneous ideological communities.

@DreamLeaf5 @vanillaopinions The electoral college is diversity and inclusion? Can you explain that?

@JamesSurowiecki @CBasiji The point of the tweet you're supposed to argue against is that America is supposed to be a white country. Let's not get wrapped around the axle of pedantry.

@ZaidJilani People forget that Michael Jordan was cut from his freshman girl's basketball team in high school. That just gave him the motivation to be one of the best ever. People should really look him up if they haven't heard of him before.
