I may be crazy here but I feel like this hiring is just a placeholder until next year when the Dallas Cowboys hire Bill Belichick after Scottenheimer gets fired… Belichick will give it a go in college for a year and then come back to the NFL so he can capture the all time wins record
The #Cowboys are hiring their own OC Brian Schottenheimer as the new head coach, per me, @TomPelissero and @SlaterNFL. Out of nowhere, Schottenheimer interviewed this week twice and now takes over for Mike McCarthy. More than a decade as an OC, Schottenheimer is an HC.

I don’t really like any of those choices… But ultimately it would depend on the guaranteed money. I would probably lean towards doing a 2yr deal for Kirk Cousins for $27.5M/yr with low guaranteed in year 2 so that you could cut bait if needed. $52+ million for Sam Darnold and Brock Purdy are the types of QB deals that will torpedo a franchise and set them back for years when they ultimately don’t live up to the contract!
