@ernietedeschi The policies (mainly immigration) seem aimed at limiting labor supply -- and lowering aggregate demand is a great idea if your goal is recession.

@allenanalysis Eggs at a record —a bit over $7 not $15. Not sure who is selling for $15 but I would shop around.

This was definitely the strategy used in the 1990s via Bill Clinton’s Treasury team.
Scott Bessent is too wily and totally understands central banks. He has figured out that the best way to get the Fed to cut rates is to tell them that Trump doesn't want them to cut. #cunning 🤣

@stevehouf Oil companies went through a period in which they dramatically boosted supplies -- and their stocks were pummeled for it. Since then, they have been very conservative with drilling new wells and focused more on shareholder returns. I don't see that changing.

@stevehouf At least on fiscal matters, I think you do want to bet against Elon. The math is pretty clear that you don't get there anytime soon unless you restructure Social Security and Medicare or slash defense spending, Both are extraordinarily unlikely in this Congress.

@conorsen The answer to “is it a good time to build a new office building’’ is no for many, many years to come though I guess other questions probably require some reading and research.

@stevehouf Democrats see 5-year inflation expectations at 4.2% -- that is an insane figure if you believe there's an independent Fed committed to 2% inflation, which there is. One-year inflation is very much volatile and tariffs are an issue. Five-year expectations are crazy.
