Your job is to offer. Their job is to choose. We tend to take their choices personally and wonder what it means about us, when it could just be a conversation about the services they received for the fee and whether it was truly a fit. You ultimately want to build a base of clients that are motivated, able to see your value and happy to pay. If they don’t raise their hand they aren’t those three things. Onward and upward 🚀

Learning is a required stop on the way to mastering your craft. Welcome to the club! If it’s process refinement - great, easy to tweak and test. I suggest a process overview 1 page) that highlights the process steps in a bar with “strategic” on one side and “tactical” on the other and a arrow pointing to where you are in the process for each meeting. Better yet, design a branded auto fillable pdf and update with client information and timeline for each meeting. For all clients but esp larger/complex ones getting their time is hard so you always (!!) set a next step before ending a discussion. Follow ups are poor next steps because they’re easy to move. I prefer calls (let’s set a call 2 weeks out to … in the meantime please get us … Set the expectation that they are busy and this is easy to put to side so will set meeting every 2-3 weeks to get through process efficiently and get their plan in place asap. The visual cements the idea you’re going through a defined process, it’s best to meet every 2-3 weeks and highlights what to expect (brains love this degree of intention and certainty).
