Thursday and Friday officers from Starkville Police Department’s COP Division and others community members spoke to kindergartners from Sudduth Elementary, West Elementary & Starkville Christian about safety. Our officers covered topics such as bicycle safety, seat belt safety & how to handle unfamiliar animals. A special thank you to the Junior Auxiliary of Starkville for inviting us to participate in this year’s Safety Town.

The City of Starkville is collecting cans of green beans to support our local food pantry. Starkville donation locations: -City Hall -Fire Station 1 -Police Department -The Partnership -Starkville-Oktibbeha County Public Library "TEAMING UP TO FEED OUR HUNGRY NEIGHBORS!​ March of the Mayors is a canned food drive, a fundraiser, and its ‘Mississippi’s Largest Food Box Packing Party’ complete with Moon Pies, Mardi Gras beads, and volunteers all rolled into one jazzy Second Line with a mission to feed hungry Mississippians!⁠"

Uniformed Development Code 16.2 Sound and Noise - It shall be unlawful for any person, business, or responsible party to use, operate, or permit to be used or operated, any personal audio device, sound equipment, or produce any other sound within a residential zoning district or in any zoning district that immediately abuts a residential zoning district in excess of the following amounts at the designated times: · For sound measured at the receiving property line or upon any public street or right-of-way, sound level limits are based on the Leq during the measurement interval, using a minimum measurement interval of 1 minute for a constant sound source, or a one-hour measurement for a non-continuous sound source. · During a measurement interval, Lmax may exceed the exterior sound level limits shown in Section 16.2.2.A by no more than 15 dB(A).

Officer Ellison has four years of law enforcement experience and has served as a reserve officer with our department since October 2023.  She is also a proud mother of five children. She was sworn in today by Mayor @lynn_spruill.
