UK demands on Apple. On all and any matters relating to encryption and the broader field of cryptography (in its entirety) my first port of call without hesitation is always Professor Matthew Green. Differences in petty human politics don’t matter to me, science is science.
Let’s be clear about what this means. The U.K. has a law that allows it to issue “technical capability notices” that require firms to disable (essentially “backdoor”) their encryption technology. They appear to have issued one to Apple.
