Today, @NUP_Ug unveiled our candidate for the Kawempe North Parliamentary by-election — Mr. Luyimbaazi Erias Nalukoola. I congratulate him for emerging victorious in a highly competitive process. As I said today, most of these candidates were great, and yet we can only field one candidate! I encouraged all candidates and supporters to rally behind the successful candidate and ensure that we retain this seat. Most importantly, this election must be seen as a central part of the revolutionary election slated for 2026. I thank and congratulate all candidates who showed up to compete. It takes courage. I also thank NUP's Election Management Committee for a job well done. Let's now hit the ground running! #PeoplePowerOurPower

In keeping with our tradition, today we hosted families of our comrades who were murdered, those who are in prison, as well as those who were disappeared and are still missing. We offered them scholastic materials and a portion of school fees, as the children go back to school. It was very emotional listening to stories of these comrades, especially those who were killed and those who were taken away by security operatives four, five years ago and have never been found up to now. I used this occasion to appreciate the pupils who are performing very well in school, and asked the rest to work very hard despite the pain they have had to live. Once again, I encourage everyone who has some means to approach our welfare office at the @NUP_Ug Headquarters and see how to support these children or their parents. We remain hopeful that one day, there will be justice. #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersinUganda
