It’s not crazy when you think of all the people who work the concessions, parking, security, and clean the building. The folks NOT making a million or more per season. They deserve a work free holiday, IMO.
Still crazy there isn’t even 2-3 games on either Christmas or Christmas Eve, wasted marketing opportunity.

Our premier believes in chem trails….Wonder if there will be a lottery for Bigfoot tags this hunting season?.
Asked about chemtrails, Premier Smith suggests that "the US Department of Defense is spraying us". "If anyone is doing it, it's the US Department of Defense". Smith is pandering to the conspiracy theorists. #ableg #abpoli

"This is the best team I've ever been on." — Kasperi Kapanen, who has found some footing on the Edmonton Oilers, his fourth NHL team. Piece up @Sportsnet soon.

“Why aren’t we protecting the superstars? Every other league does it - Mahomes, Lebron… They protect their superstars." - Corey Perry, on McDavid protecting himself.
Connor McDavid, it seems, has had enough of waiting for the on-ice officials to give him the room he requires to be the best player on earth. @sportsnetspec explains why.

Connor Bedard had some words for the official after this Josh Manson whack went uncalled. #Blackhawks

Best group of forwards. Best team down the middle. And likely time for a 2nd PP unit that gets some meaningful minutes. This is the best Oilers team since the ‘80s.
Jeff Skinner signed a one-year deal for $3 million. Viktor Arvidsson inked a two-year deal with a $4 million AAV. Adam Henrique signed for two years at $3 million per. All three will make less than they earned last season. @sportsnetspec has the story.

@MikeBartner Even one game means a few hundred minimum wage workers miss their Christmas so the billionaire leagues can take profits. It’s not right. Even one game, IMO.

I’m not an expert on fire jurisdiction, Dave. But Smith doesn’t want the Feds’ help on housing, the dental plan, or much else .But she’s waiting for them to fix Alberta fires?.Which is it going to be, Dave?.
Right from the word go, folks have blamed Alberta and Premier Smith for Jasper wildfire, correct?. This strikes me as nonsense. Ottawa and Parks Canada rule national parks with an iron grip, right?. Perhaps I am missing something. If so, what is it? How was province to blame?.

This is the scene after a @EdmRiverhawks game, as kids run the bases. These guys have it figured out.

Not looking for a fight here, but really?.Matthews has created more chances than every other player?.I sometimes wonder who is charting these chances, and whether they are wearing their blue and white jammies while doing so.
There’s a lot of harping on Matthews and rightfully so. However, he leads the playoffs with 35 individual scoring chances at 5v5. 4th in ixG, well ahead of McDavid/Draisaitl. The difference is Draisaitl is putting up Gretzky numbers on the PP.

Congrats to @EdmontonJack, one of the best in the biz.
Oiler TV/radio play by play man Jack Michaels is off to Vegas to do first two games of Golden Knights-Dallas series on NHL radio. Good for him.

Things getting tight for Canucks, and Miller gives his teammates a laugh, lightens up the mood. Excellent leadership. Here’s a guy who can read the room.

Rob is dead on here. Draisaitl competed at Mach 10 last night, set up the winner, went 61% on the dot and blocked 3 shots (team high). While folks in TOR, VAN and WPG wonder where some of their best players are, Draisaitl is once again turning L.A. into the Kings of Leon.
For those who suggest Draisaitl is simply lazy, nothing could be further from the truth. That dude busted his ass up and down the rink all night long. He may not do it every game during the 82 game sked but when it matters, he is a horse at both ends.

“Protect the superstars!” he said, before body slamming superstar Quinn Hughes. Corey Perry is the gift that keeps on giving. Another day, another irate fan base.
Thursday night's win was a masterclass by Perry, still hockey’s most subtle purveyor of the game within the game. He had the Canucks in the palm of his glove — chasing him, challenging him, swearing at him. (@SportsnetSpec)
