@JMShineman @redarizona13 @unleashedwlax Headgear associated with a significantly reduced rate of concussions in high school girls’ lacrosse… reduction of about 50% in Florida (which mandates use) compared to states that don’t mandate headgear use. 50% is a LOT

@officiallaxgirl Actually studies show that use of helmets in girls lacrosse is associated with a significant reduction in concussions… as much as 50% reduction in risk.

@RodgerKram @BiomechMax Less likely because the rules are completely different (WLAX is non-contact)… but concussion risk is still very high and is primarily due to a stick or ball vs head mechanism. Helmets do appear to reduce this risk.

@DrZSportsDoc @BenHansen9 Have only given this a quick look, but a deeper dive is needed; chronic workload base and recent workload changes are important (a la Tim Gabbett’s work) and are not likely to show up in simply correlations. Tom Verducci has been on point with this for years #VerducciEffect

@DrZSportsDoc @UFortho Getting annoyed at the tweets using the word “helmet” instead of “headgear”

@JustLacrosse Headgear, not helmets. Helmet use (ASTM standard) only started this year. Previously most girls wore soccer headbands to fulfill the FHSSA mandate.

@SHAQ But the good thing is that his risk can be significantly reduced with appropriate training. Important to act now while he is young...

@SHAQ Your boy is likely at *high risk* for ACL injury given his age, sport, and biomechanics. That pic hurts! http://t.co/xvRwOKFYYN
