Whether or not the TMZs of the world know it, Kanye wearing Nazi merch is a pretty clear signal that the apologies are fake. He still believes the same stuff about Hitler. He's just learning how to say it without losing brand deals.
Unpopular opinion apparently, but if you describe any of the convoys that you know are mostly represented by non-truckers as "Canadian trucker protests" or "Canadian trucker convoys", you are knowingly misrepresenting both convoy members and Canadian truckers.
This obviously seems very silly but you guys gotta know, Raw Egg Nationalist is literally a Nazi. Tucker isn't just platforming a weird guy. He promotes Evola and he prints his book with an openly National Socialist book publisher. He is a Nazi.
Not a single time in this article does
@MarekCTV
mention that Bubba Pollock, the guy quoted and initially defended in this piece, is a well-known neo-Nazi who even rallies unmasked with the WP group White Lives Matter.
What's the explanation for this

@Mezentine
That's a great one but the season 3 Daredevil long-shot prison escape scene is the best daredevil fight scene and blows it out of the water imo. Also the Punisher prison fight scene in season 2 was incredible.
Ah, shit. The esoteric/spiritual/soft fascist mysticism site got a real celebrity ambassador.
Gaia isn't just a conspiracy site, it platforms and pairs with Protocols enthusiast David Icke and caters to more than one classic Nazi occult myth.
A quick glance of Olympic shooter Enkhtaivany Davaakhüü shows he is a big fan of swastikas. In addition to an apparent chest tattoo, he has at least two Swastika necklaces, one of which has the slanted Swastika design used by Nazis.
1/3 Doxxing people who are filmed having a bad time while they are on private property is reckless at best and despicable at worst. This guy might have to move now because of the National Post.
And yes, this would still apply if he was filmed saying nice things to anti-vaxxers.
The hardest part about talking about online hate is not conveying how these pipelines work. It is convincing people that yes, people get millions of streams and tiktok replays for exactly this content and yes, that means they are not "fringe" but in fact part of popular culture.
IDK if anyone spends much time with teenagers but this stuff is *huge* right now and it's gonna be a massive issue going forward in ways that are gonna be hard to fathom if, like me, you grew up somewhere that youth culture/counterculture was always dominated by the left.
Live-ammo counter-demos against unnamed Pride attendees is not just an intimidation technique. It also 1. Tests out controlling minority groups w/ violence. 2. Potentially triggers will-be mass shooters. 3. Shows recruits how how hard/easy soft target shooting sprees can be.

Since last week the school has received multiple bomb threats. The poll is still up.
I spent today in and around

on parliament that hasn't already been said about the most filmable members of the convoy, I'd like to make a few observations about the crowds in Ottawa today:
If you guys are upset about Randy Hillier saying something racist that downplays Covid-19 you are going to be so upset when you see pretty much every other thing that he said over the last year.
🧵 Because Save Canada spokesperson Chris Dacey flew Diagolon's Ol' Slashy at Parliament yesterday, here are 9 things Diagolon leader Jeremy Mackenzie has publicly promoted or posted in just the last month that could reasonably be considered the actions of a white power activist:
Wrapping up, this Josh Alexander interview wasn't unique in any way. I'm only mentioning it because needs to be said that SC hasn't actually distanced from the networks of its Diagolon-friendly founders since handing the brand over to Alexander. This is who they are courting.
People tend to think of Holocaust revisionism as something reserved for hatemongers on the fringes of society.
But this a self-described centrist with over 10 thousand followers pushing a narrative that willfully omits Jews as the biggest target and it has very little pushback.
Never occurred to them that an “elite” was generally someone who had risen, by way of education, talent or hard work (or all three) from the “common people” ranks. You know, what we all used to wish for for our children.
He made an “other” and created a burning hatred for them.

As someone who analyzed over 1000 pieces of far-right propaganda in the last two years for work: An infamous neo-Nazi wielding a sign with a Celtic Cross calling for a destruction of pedophiles outside of a Drag Story Time is kind of connected to the Drag Story Time, yeah.
FYI the reason NBC's extremism beat journalist is ranting this is that he got called out for being unethical *towards other journalists* in the field (by
@noturtlesoup17
), and now he is trying to discredit them for having done undercover journalism to expose neo-Nazis.
🧵I am not a Nazi historian and contemporary movements are more my beat. But here's a few prominent allies to National Socialism off the top of my head who are are either POC or Hispanic (Spain has white people, yes) to emphasize how out-of-touch this line of thought is.
Subscribers to
@jacobin
should take a hard look at what they're paying for. Because right now, they're paying to platform an objectively Right Wing brand (no pun intended) that spreads deadly anti-vaccine disinformation, praises Alex Jones, and spreads 9/11 conspiracy theories.
1: A lot of children are here. A lot. And I saw more than a few made to carry two handed signs. There's a lot of cold and bored kids spending the day holding signs their parents made. Restaurants in Ottawa are closed for indoor dining, so some families had to eat lunch outside.
2/3 Minimal effort could have been made to make this story happen without naming this man and just identify him as a Liberal staffer. Instead the National Post identified a private citizen for a conspiracy movement to personally make a target.
@markusoff
@ABDanielleSmith
Wow. The naturopath in that clip, Christine Perkins, sure has helped some very famous clients. This one, "Tim", is all over the internet! It's almost like she made up her own reviews and used stock photo images for fake patients!
And 4. Small businesses were swarmed and floor workers were put in bad places today. Most businesses tried operating as usual (not downtown Starbucks, it seems). Some gave and closed early. People I spoke with didn't even know Ottawa was closed for indoor dining before coming.
Every antifascists I know has been screaming about it for at least 2 years. When all is said and done, remember who kept the receipts of Canada's far-right for years leading up to this. We owe them for providing the resources to fill in a full picture.
3/3 It would be another thing and much less of an issue if this was on the streets. But this was someone's home and it was shared without any effort to hide his face or location, and without explicit consent. It's disgusting. It's not normal and it shouldn't be treated otherwise.
One small silver lining in this is that it may be uh, a little bit entertaining in a messed up way to see Varg wrestle with the fact his most famous fan is a Person of Colour.
Truly weird to me that a reporter with an organization closely connected to a major tech company and the Conservative Party of Canada is allowed to meet with *literal* Nazis and occasionally defend them, in this case this guy here for plainly committing a hate crime
James Blackwood, the retired mountie whose interviews were the basis of the design for an official Canadian coin comemorating a UFO sighting and is best known for feeding raccoons on Youtube as the Raccoon Whisperer, has announced his engagement!
Either a major update on Canada Unity, the founders and organizers of the

3. The honking isn't just annoying, it's a soundscape. It's nonstop all afternoon. Some of them are from loud semi's parked on streets with sidewalks and people walking by are pretty startled when they're honked at. It hurt even my ears, and some convoygoers brought dogs.

Marc, I've inquired about the X-Rays in your doctor's office to confirm the existence of your spine. They responded:

That being said the apparent chest tattoo placement and design is really common among neo-Nazis, he's a public figure, and it's the Olympics. So, I feel like public interest is warranted. Good find

2. The convoy is closer to zero than 50,000 pickup trucks, sure, but of the likely over 100 trucks a lot are in downtown gridlock away from parliament. This means A. Some people are being dicks and leaving their cars on streets that are not passable from behind to join the fray,

In addition to constantly admitting to being openly racist towards Muslims in his lectures, Gad Saad also consistently shares anecdotes from his classes with far-right and conspiratorial podcasts & talk shows. It is simply a sound safety measure for students to avoid his classes.

Josh Alexander is went on Patriot Propaganda yesterday. Several Holocaust deniers and white nationalist have been on the show for friendly interviews with host Alex Cabana (who Save Canada has marched with before). They're also big on using super racist dogwhistles. 🧵
MintPress News appears to be getting less subtle about platforming far-right extremists. In one recent article they embedded white nationalist group America First as a primary source on a claim and referred to RAM's Vince James (a proud Nazi) as a "conservative commentator."
A man who called a neo-Nazi "my friend" on air, blogged Holocaust denial excuses, had Mark Slapinski write for him, and oversees a website that publishes anti-feminism think pieces written by an anti-vaxxer is not "the left".
Hey
@sasktoday
, since you make the argument that Mackenzie's brand is intended as humour, can you explain the punchline to the time he shared the home address of a Jewish journalist and asked "what wine pairs best with doxxed k*ke?"
I'm serious. Tell me the punchline.
So, a CBC outlet interviewed a guy wearing a white nationalist movement's logo on his hat, which is a pretty big blunder. But then six months later another CBC outlet interviewed the same man... with the same hat?
Probably a good case for hate symbol literacy
It's not the first time, either. Ever considered doing a quick check of people's social media, if you're not noticing or flagging that interview subjects are wearing the Diagolon slash?
Anyone using the "it's just a joke" defence for white nationalist internet content in 2023 is speaking from a place that has been massively debunked in every meaningful way.

And B. The vehicles, be they trucks or passenger cars, that are in gridlock farther away from the action are full of incredibly bored drivers. Like, just texting or having their head on the steering wheel, waiting for people to pass to honk at bored. For hours.
Not to pick on this particular editor, but you don't need to link directly to a sales page for the Turner Diaries sold through a neo-Nazi publisher in the story. You can just write that. We don't need to lead people directly to extremist group's financing opportunities.
"(debanking) came to a swift end when enough Canadians withdrew their money to threaten a bank run."
If any American journalists are wondering why they haven't heard of this, it's because it didn't happen. This is made-up. Unclear by whom. New York Post doesn't attempt a source.
If you are seriously considering the possibility that the Azov Battalion invented or popularized the most recognized symbol of esoteric Nazism and neo-Nazism from the 90s until today, I would strongly advise that you listen, rather than talk, when it comes Nazi symbol discourse.
Without knowing more about Davaakhüü, I would be very cautious to say whether this indicates he might be part of Mongolia's massive neo-Nazi movement or he is using the symbol for other purposes (Swastikas were common in Mongolia pre-20th century).
To the journalists who are not used to covering the far-right, but have to when the

convoy passes:
1. Listen to what different people say they're there for, not what organizers have on-script.
2. Know that if you do a great job, you will face some harassment.
Hello I am exhausted from complaining about media outlets not mentioning racist activism when reporting on intersecting activism from racist activists.
A thread pertaining to news about Chris Sky et al v. Chinatown community:
New article! I wrote a financial profile on the Canadian white supremacist network Diagolon for Insight Monitor.
Diagolon operates as a white power movement and as a fanbase. Read about its finances, including ways that it raises and spends funds, and who it organizes with here.
🚨🗞Today's Insight Monitor is out, and it's a look at the Diagolon network and how they finance & sustain their activities. They are known for promoting extreme hate speech, Holocaust denial, white nationalism, accelerationism, and neo-Nazism.
(1/2) If someone repeatedly implied you're secretly a nazi, hung with people who harassed you, and had a staff member mock you for the death of a loved one, you too would be agited if you saw them in person and prone to saying worse things than "leave me the fuck alone".
Sorry to harsh the celebratory mood, but Garrison is right. Precedants set during this conflict will inevitably be used for vastly different protests supporting vastly different causes in the future.
My worst example of this is one scoop pertaining to extremism and music I pitched to 10-15 outlets - some actively requesting pitches on the topics - got 0 replies, & ended up with 20k reads on my personal blog (<100 subs). The 'public interest to media interest' ratio is steeeep
I had to fight tooth and nail to get my pitches on political extremism accepted when I worked for a national news outlet.
It never made sense to me. Not only were they solid stories, but they also got clicks.
The stories you folks actually saw often took SO MUCH convincing.

No one thinks Nazis exist only in Ukraine.
But NPR hasn't been platforming Nazis elsewhere.
Getty and NATO haven't been positively describing Nazis elsewhere.
Canada's armed forces haven't trained strictly-Nazi regiments who are currently fighting elsewhere.
Concern is warranted.
Criticism of Jon Stewart for being naive or having poor judgment is fine. But, if you're just going to share out-of-context bits of him and J*ck P*sobiec for clout, you're probably doing what P*sobiec wants and it takes a 5 sec peak at how he's treating the situation to see that.
