@RealMGSimpson @Salywebster @reformparty_uk @Nigel_Farage @TiceRichard Thanks for taking the time to reply Mark - I do appreciate it. Hopefully this is just a misunderstanding as I don’t think Labour or Cons use the pub for formal gatherings. It is a small pub so I imagine speeches would be loud. Hope the event goes well at the Beehive.

@RealMGSimpson @Salywebster @reformparty_uk @Nigel_Farage @TiceRichard Hi Mark, can I just clarify the situation here as a Long Pond regular? Are you saying your booking was cancelled because you were Reform? Did you tell the landlord who you were when you booked the pub?

@tonyofsidcup @CharlieJSDavis @MattHartley100 @GreenwichTories @MrOkereke @Royal_Greenwich If you don’t want to be drawn into it I fail to understand why you are engaging in this conversation. Just calling people liars without any facts seems a poor basis for a debate.

@tonyofsidcup @CharlieJSDavis @MattHartley100 @GreenwichTories @MrOkereke My apologies, so you approve of the closure and other spending priorities? Your point about lying seems ridiculous to me - the figure is justifiable and really this is about whether you support the Council’s choices or not. @MattHartley100 clearly does not and I agree with him.

@tonyofsidcup @CharlieJSDavis @MattHartley100 @GreenwichTories @MrOkereke As you said it is a lot of money when you are closing or cutting services across the rest of the borough. It is just a choice and not one I agree with. I take it you think the £45m represents value for money?

@tonyofsidcup @CharlieJSDavis @MattHartley100 @GreenwichTories @MrOkereke Can I take it you accept the £45m figure now? You seem quick to call people liars but not to admit you are wrong. An alternative is the introduction of political assistants for £80,000pa which is similar to the amount being saved by closing Maryon Wilson.

@tonyofsidcup @MattHartley100 @GreenwichTories @MrOkereke @CharlieJSDavis I think is there is an opportunity cost to getting rid of a really popular animal park which only costs £60,000 pa to run (using your figures). The Council recently spent £45m on a Woolwich based arts organisation and I reckon Maryon Wilson represent better value for money.

Well done to @MattHartley100 for fighting hard on this issue and to the Daily Mail for highlighting it. Worryingly the Council seem to be planning to introduce more limits on driving purely as revenue raising schemes in their latest budget proposals.
Excellent special report in today's @DailyMailUK on Labour's LTN crusade against drivers in Greenwich 👇 @hardmanr

@MattHartley100 This is a real worry - the Council needs to combat fraud in this area as otherwise council tax payers are being let down again. It is no worry the Council is in serious financial trouble.

Thanks for highlighting this Matt. I hadn’t realised that the Right to Buy discount was being cut. The fact it is being done at short notice with unforeseen consequences in Greenwich is another sign of this government’s incompetence.
Leaving aside whether you agree with discouraging Right To Buy with this drastic cut (I don't!), this was v worst conceivable way of implementing this Labour policy. Just the latest example of the central failing of this new government - 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧
