The team is growing (1/2)! We are SO HAPPY to officially welcome @CastignoliMarco, who has been very close to us since the very beginning, helping with both ideas and implementation! About him: Marco is an open-source maintainer and advocate currently working with the Argot Collective. His expertise spans a diverse range of technologies, including R&D on automated guided vehicles, web development for the open-source learning management system FormaLMS, and blockchain research on source code verification with Sourcify. He has worked for the Ethereum Foundation for the past 3 years.

The team is growing (2/2)! Another GREAT addition to our team is a girl. She is an "adopted" Italian as she's -literally- married to our beautiful country. Welcome to the most lovely educator @OrnellaWeb3! About her: Known as OrnellaWeb3, she is a web3 educator and marketer with over 15 years of experience in branding, communications, and community building. She is the Marketing & Community Lead at Bankless Academy and the founder of DAOnboarding, where she focuses on democratizing blockchain knowledge, fostering multilingual education, and inspiring diverse individuals to become web3 builders. She will help SpaghettETH in the creation of contents, initiatives and meetups.

SpaghettETH’s Experiment: Running a “Web3 Sibling” Conference at @linecheck_it Music Festival Conferences are the backbone of web3 communities, but as ecosystems grow, so do challenges like overlapping dates, shared sponsors, and audience fatigue. We explored a new model: the “web3 sibling” conference. Here’s what we learned at Linecheck. 👇 1/ The idea was born out of necessity. 🇮🇹 In 2024, the Italian web3 scene saw @ethna_rocks, @NapulETH , @ETHRome, @eth_milano , @ETHVenice (next). While sharing the same values towards the italian-speaking community, they often competed for the same grants, sponsors, speakers & attendees. Sibling conferencing solves this: embedding web3 into other industries' events. 2/ At Linecheck, one of Europe’s leading music biz conferences, we reached an entirely new audience. 80%+ of attendees were unfamiliar with crypto or web3 tech. The innovation gap was huge, but so was the opportunity. 3/ For music, web3 tools are not “nice-to-haves.” They’re critical to solving major industry problems like royalty and payout transparency, artist empowerment, fan engagement. 4/ One unexpected bonus? Teaching the basics strengthened our own foundational knowledge: explaining blockchain tech in clear, vertical terms sharpened our understanding of the ecosystem and provided us with new PoVs. 5/ But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. 🛑 External audiences have strong biases against crypto, much of it fueled by mainstream media. Some attendees equated web3 with scams, speculation, or environmental harm (yes, even post-Merge). Bias and to some extent prejudiced 'hatred' emerged in many Q&A sessions. Apes, punks and kittens played a major role in this bad external narrative. While we know much of it comes from crypto historical detractors, we must also acknowledge our public image is built on our own actions, language, meme culture as a community... Food for thoughts. The "crypto-screamer" kind of influencer can be very detrimental to the builders' efforts in the long run. 6/ We learned that addressing sector-specific contradictions helped cut through the noise. For music: 🎵 Web3 offers transparency in an opaque royalty system 🎵 Ownership is decentralized, unlike the few giants controlling streaming platforms 🎵 Transparency > black-box licensing deals 7/ Another hurdle: academia. 🏛 Panels with music researchers exposed how outdated their narratives are: ❌ Ethereum as an energy hog (despite the Merge) ❌ NFTs as speculative bubble and nothing more (not even an open standard for certifications) ❌ An insane hype for AI with no care for questioning its corporate-daddy issue, or acknowledging web3's open-source, ethical frameworks. This dissonance was especially frustrating. Academic voices, with their authority, often perpetuate disinformation about crypto while hyping the new big thing, totally ignoring web3's ethics in building open and interoperable systems. 8/ Still, the experiment worked. At Linecheck, we: ✅ Onboarded new musicbiz professionals to web3 ✅ Narrowed the gap between innovators and the tools they need ✅ Took the first steps to normalize crypto in external industries Sibling conferencing is a win for web3 & host industries alike. This approach is not just for music. It’s scalable across tech-touched industries: we will be spending the first months of 2025 scouting more collaborations like this. 9/ A friendly note to funding institutions and teams in Ethereum: while we deeply value the ecosystem’s support, this particular activation didn’t resonate as addressing "core community needs." Yet, bridging web3 with external industries provided essential chances for broader adoption. Let’s rethink what “community needs” truly means. 10/ To fellow conference organizers: let’s consider collaboration over competition. Embedding web3 in broader ecosystems bridges gaps, meets new audiences, and shows how decentralization can meet real-world problems. What industries do you see ripe for a web3 sibling conference? 💭

Watch the video recap of our experience at #Linecheck. This was our first experiment as a "Web3 Sibling Conference" - this time with a Music festival. We can say it was a success. Stay tuned...we will jump with our Web3 feet in many other industries!
