I want to share an analogy with the world: Imagine, if you will, that your citizenship in America is likened to being on a magnificent wooden ship which is crossing a vast ocean. Your job on this ship is to scrub floors. In this analogy, this is likened to any of the middle and low class industries; computer science, garbage men, teachers, attorneys, truck drivers, welders, etc., etc. Occasionally while you work, you go to wipe your brow, and look over the edge of the ship, and you that the ship is sailing through huge rocks, or maybe straight into a deadly whirlpool, or perhaps you see a Kraken coming in hot.... But, you're not the Captain. You're not the First Mate. Hell, you're not even one of the people who raise or lower the sails. You scrub floors.... Yet every time you look at the waters through which the ship sails, you become more and more alarmed. Eventually, you wonder to yourself, "I know I should be worrying about scrubbing floors, but right now, I think maybe I would make a better Captain than the man leading us through or towards horrific fates." I'm just happy to be here. I just want to scrub floors. But lately, it seems like maybe the Captain might be no better at leading than those of us who simply scrub floors.
