@Scottrhawk555 @elonmusk I agree that thereβs no reason for US taxpayers to fund it. Which theyβre not now, because the plugβs been pulled on USAID, affecting many hundreds of charitable causes around the globe, not just this one.

@Paul07031975 @constantstar001 @elonmusk But it DOESNβT fund the British Broadcasting Corporation. Thatβs the point. Whether itβs right for USAID to be providing funds for the charity BBC Media Action is another question.

@PaulMur32867789 @Filiecs2 @controvesi @elonmusk I help fund the BBC broadcast arm by paying the annual licence fee here in the UK. I donβt help fund the charity BBC Media Action. Nor would I fund any ISIS charity.

I didnβt question the rights or wrongs of USAID funds being granted to the charity BBC Media Action. Thatβs a whole other debate. I just want people to be aware that funds going to the charity BBC Action Aid do not go to the BBC broadcasting arm, which is funded solely through the licence fee in the UK, and advertising in some overseas territories.

@Dannymean69 @elonmusk It certainly does not fund general BBC programming, which is paid for in the UK by the licence fee, and by advertising in some overseas territories.

@jim_blott @elonmusk I didnβt say it has no connection to the BBC, I said the money it raises does not go anywhere near the broadcast arm of the BBC. BBC television and radio broadcasting is paid for by the licence fee in the UK, and by advertising in some overseas territories.

@Inevitablewest They werenβt children. It was an adult education centre next door to a school. The victims are reported to be immigrants finishing their education.

I wanted to post a rebuttal to the erroneous items about USAID funding the BBC, but this chap (amongst many others) has already explained it, so for what itβs worth, here you go @elonmusk - as youβre so keen on X telling the truth, perhaps you could retweet this. Thank you.
@KunduRonald256 @PeterSweden7 USAID doesnβt fund the BBC, itβs an entirely separate BBC charity programme that helps train journalists and support media freedoms in poorer nations, including Uganda.. see linked report. Honestly does anybody fact check anything anymore?!?
