had to explain to my doctor why my job is stressful like
"I'm a 3d artist in the games industry its quite a stressful job sometimes"
"what do you mean that doesn't sound stressful that sounds great and fun!"
feel like this shader is in a place where i can actually share it now, a lot of the features i want in it are not there just yet but the main internal effect is ^_^
Generate photorealistic textures from text prompts with the new Text to Texture feature, now available in

(beta). Improve your workflow by spending less time hunting for reference imagery, and more time bringing your creative vision to life.
Just want to showcase the importance of stepping back from projects to come at them later with a different frame of mind. the textures were BAD, you can see on the wood how little detail and contrast there was and it just didnt feel like wood. the lighting also didnt fit at all.
Ok just a quick tutorial on how I do damage and cracks and stuff like that, really simple steps just need to go slow and be subtle and know where you can go hard or need to have a lighter touch :)

adding in details and continuing the feel of the concept in areas it doesn't show is a very important step to really tie the entire 3d piece together, as 3D artists we gotta interpret what the concept is not just recreate it ^_^
Hi
#VisibleWomen
!
I'm Lucy and I am a 3D environment artist by day and a Weapon artist by night! I love making hand painted fantasy weapons and just want to do that all day haha
holy shit its finally fully tetured and in engine.... now to just rework some of the tech and vfx and then presentation shots. might be a week or so till i land one something i feel is good enough to post but ITS HAPPENING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
#handpainted
#UnrealEngine5
The changes are slowing down now, its mostly just refinement at this point, honestly i could just take this right now and bake it down and start painting but i want to really work on my sculpting skills so im finishing this to high polish :D (also i want to print it for myself)
progress on this thing now, just separating all the details from the proxy sculpt and refining all the muddy crappy sculpting haha still a long way to go x.x
HAPPY

My name is Lucy And I'm a Hand Painted 3d artist who focuses on weapons, props and environments with as much tech as can pump in there :3
I went from being on disability and not being able to find a job and getting rejected left and right to being contacted by one of my dream studios and working on one of my favorite games. It was such a 180 this year I'm kinda still in shock after all the rejections haha
Game developers! 🎮 👋 It's time. Tell me at least one thing you did that you are proud of this year. Everything is valid, no matter how big or small. Something you learned, a job you found, a smart fix, a promotion, an award, a realisation, you closing a JIRA ticket on time...
sorry but I just cant get over how good this effect looks ^_^
I see a lot of work i need to do on the wood texture but its looking so damn nice in unreal 5 so far! :3
ok so sometimes with hand painted works in unreal it can really soften your strokes and textures up a lot, especially when you use a high focal point and a light setup that has a lot of soft and ambient bounces. so heres a quick fix to help get some sharpness back like this 🧵
It's finished
The Cygnian Blade is finished and up on my ArtStation now
Was a massive journey and im really proud of the results
Please check out the concept artist
@Drawmaevedraw
and her amazing work <3
Ok blender people, i know you follow me. It's the weekend now which means it's time to try and learn this shit for hard surface modeling
What are some of the must have plugins, add-ons and scripts for qol and hard surface modeling?
Ok so to elaborate on my last post about post process and how it can work with unreal 5 and hand painted pieces, on the left is the same asset with the post process volume i have set up turned off and the right is with it turned on, there's quite a few things i do here so a🧵1/6
So yeah a literal dream come true, I just accepted a position as a Contract 3D Asset Artist at Riot Games working on VALORANT and I'm way too excited about it lmao ^_^
todays progress was a lot of small details, really did more than i thought i would today i feel great about how its coming along :D
also reminder that this piece was concepted and designed by
@Drawmaevedraw
please check her out she does amazing things :3
finished the filligree on the back of the blade, and refined the metalwork holding in the central stone too, now its just a bit more refining on the other metal work that isnt quite finished and then onto the wood handle :D

This has been an insane year of growth for me from learning hand painted textures to integrating my new style into the tech art world and truly making it my own ^_^
Big things coming in 2022 I can feel it!
@anafigreen
Guys, we would like to clarify this issue. We use AI as a working tool for our future project, which is in the early stages of production right now.
AI will be used exclusively for additional work with concepts and speeding up some internal processes (for example, for creative
Hello

^_^
My name is Lucy Russell and I'm a 3Denvironment/weapon/tech Artist and I LOVE hand painted and stylised weapons. I also love blending tech art into the hand painted space to create something truly special c:
just want to throw a PSA out for doing renders in unreal and want a transparent background DO NOT USE THE CUSTOM DEPTH PASS FROM THE HIGH RES SCREENSHOT MENU, PEASE USE THE CUSTOM DEPTH BUFFER AND THEN USE IT AS A MASK IN PHOTOSHOP YOU WILL GET A MUCH CLEANER AND BETTER RESULT
People don't realize how much time is just lost to trying things out in game dev. sometimes weeks or months go by where your just trying things out and it turns out the first thing you tried was the best thing and you end up just looking like you did nothing and it sucks ngl
finally got a chance to work on this a bit more, getting more work done on the wrapping and banging up the metal a little bit so i have some nice normal information for my shader :3
so close to finishing the sculpt on this now, the fabric just has a little bit of refining to go to make sure all sides read well, some fraying too, some of the details need a little bit of cleanup on the metalwork, and the gem needs some love and then its ready for retopo :D
morning fabric pass, i hate fabric so much lmfao, at least it doesnt look horrid but this is for sure going to be somewhere where the texturing needs to do most of the work because the sculpt is lacking haha
Here's the RDVR Phantom I did for
#VALORANT
Was an amazing project, I had a ton of fun with the textures and I'm really happy with how it turned out!
Artstation link below :)
all the intricate metalwork details are done! now its just the blade, wrapping and handle :D
I will be doing damage in just the texture and not the model, mostly because I've been developing some shader tech that will let me do some really cool stuff with hand painted lighting :P
Texturing on the key angle is fully done!!!!!! now time to put it in engine, sort out the shader stuff, project the texture onto the other side and add some variation to the other side so its nice and unique ^_^
ok
#gameart
twitter, here's a little tech art trick for you
Have you ever been using vertex colours on maybe an environment and thought "hey i wish there was more than 4 to choose from" well you're in luck! you can actually a TON of them! and in this thread I reveal all! 1/x
My shitty experiences in this industry have warped me so much that whenever I finish a project or task I just feel fear that I'm going to be let go instead of proud of my work and excited for the next task or project. I hope one day this fades because damn it's hard....
finished the material work, got some nice panar and dot product stuff in there, animation is also done just need to import it and hook it up. SO CLOOOOSE
#handpainted
#UnrealEngine5
done the chains and bells so now the sword looks fucking dope from all angles, a few more spots on the other side to go to make it perfect but so close!!!!!
Did some work on the blade part and just some things here and there, tried to add some more depth to the stones and stuff too, need to do that effect in the blade cracks and make sure thats all nice and crisp :3
It's time to learn blender for my environment art workflow what are some good plugins for hard surface/environment/blockout and uv workflows that I should check out?
So my contract end date is coming up soon :C
Anyone got any leads on cool projects that need a stylised pbr or hand painted prop/weapon artist?
Looking for any sort of short or medium term contracts :)
It's been too long since i've done a weapon and its making me super sad so im picking up this old project again from
@Drawmaevedraw
and finishing it because im a good girl who finishes her weapons! >:C
