Excessive cursing is a surprisingly consistent trope of bad modern writing. Look at new Star Trek, Hazbin Hotel, Dustborn-all have obscene amounts of cursing as a substitute for clever insults or any clever dialogue at all. It's the writers freely showing how limited they are.
