This Liverpool team beat a PL team 5-1 in the Carabao Cup back in September. No Ali, TAA, VVD, Konate, Grav, Szobo…Macca & Salah played 30mins. That’s a better test of depth than the extremely weakened team at Plymouth on Sunday..They should have done better but still…

@AnfieldRd96 Not strictly true… We played weakened teams in the Carabao Cup games against Brighton, West Ham and Southampton and won all three..Six or seven starters rested in each of those games… Not even gonna mention Accrington Stanley..

@conroy_23180 @LFCApproved I remember Trent, Salah, Szoboszlai, Konate all struggled for form…and we just started missing chances.Everton away, Palace at home….still don’t know how we didn’t score in those two games

@conroy_23180 @LFCApproved As for off the bench…I don’t know what the stats say…but I do recall games; like Brighton at home when Jones & Diqz(?) came on and changed things..The big threat is as u say, injuries to main guys…but that’ll be tough for any team.

@conroy_23180 @LFCApproved Maybe I’m optimistic…but..we are in wk 24..we’ve seen Jota come off the bench to save a point at Forest (could have had 3) Jones & Elliott came on for Szobo & Mac & help win points at Brentford..As impact subs, they can do a job…a key long term injury wud be a problem. Hope not

@conroy_23180 @LFCApproved It’s not the same for all positions obviously…CB is a weak spot, altho he did start Quansah in week one…I think he trusts Bradley to fill in for Trent, Gomez for Konate, Tsimikas for Robbo, Jones for Szobo or Macca, all the forwards (save Chiesa).. Endo for specific game states

@conroy_23180 @LFCApproved I don’t agree that he only trusts about 14 players…but clearly there is a pecking order, which is normal. If your first choice guys are available, u play them..if not, u dig deeper into the squad. He hasn’t had to dig deep often…I hear he didn’t change often at Feyenoord too

@conroy_23180 @LFCApproved On that last point, I agree completely. Why go that way? Clearly from the squad he picked, the team that started & the subs made, this was low priority - even if he expected more from those guys. We’ll have to see about moves in the summer…I just wouldn’t base much on this game

@conroy_23180 @LFCApproved Professional players know they’re playing for their future…manager doesn’t need to come out in public to name players he doesn’t “fancy”…knowing that he might need those players at some point. Besides, the whole idea of “not fancying” a player is cos he has better options
