In the previous decade, India's per capita income was surging by over 50% in every five year cycle. From 2004-08, it increased by 59%, & from 2008-14, it surged by 57%. Then came the slump! From 2014-19, per capita increase was only 31%, & from 2019-23, it barely nudged by 22%.

We still have a unfair tax regime. Out of every 100 rupees GOI collects: -₹17 comes from corporate tax -₹22 comes from Income tax -₹27 comes from indirect tax (GST+others) 2/3rd of GST is borne by the poor, while the middle class shoulders the largest share of income tax.

Some alarming numbers: -Allocation for the education sector has been slashed from ₹1.45 lakh crore to ₹1.28 lakh crore. -Capex has dropped from ₹11.11 lakh crore to ₹10.18 lakh crore. -MGNREGA allocation remains stagnant, effectively shrinking when adjusted for inflation.

Quick fixes have never worked for structural problems. They are at best a misdiagnosis of the issue and at worst a distraction that postpones the necessary policy reforms. If the FM believes that a dose of tax relief will magically revive consumption, she is mistaken.

Palestinians return to Gaza pulverized by bombs after ceasefire. Israel has yet to eliminate the militia groups. Millions of civilians have died in this offensive. History has proven, no amount of firepower can secure peace when it fuels the very resistance it seeks to destroy.

China's global manufacturing share has increased inspite of tariffs. What does this say? That China is here to stay no matter who comes at the White House. To start with, it has 1trillion trade surplus at the onset of trade war. China's production ecosystem is simply too big!

A falling rupee doesn't necessarily boost exports. Consider this: Though ₹ dropped last month, exports actually contracted in Dec. While a weaker ₹ makes exports competitive, many exporters rely on imported raw materials. The higher import costs offset the export benefits.

5) Muted demand has been a persistent issue for some time now. Inflation coupled with stagnant real incomes is likely to keep demand subdued. Consumer sales and Retail sale are at a low. India's demand problem is not a temporary blip but a structural issue that needs a fix. END
