Well, suppose I’d better do a cover reveal for my new scifi as it nears first draft completion. This has flowed so well-and the ending is going to be a brilliant set up. Elements of Aliens, Expanse and Firefly rolled into one-can I pull it off? Watch the vid👇 #scifibooks #scifi

@AmberRaeToro I wish you well, and if I remember right you were calling them scifi fantasy, so you may well carry over readers. If your tropes are similar, then you will have maintained a reader connection there too.

@AmberRaeToro There are some out there, it was more about taking your audience with you as you cross genre. Not an easy thing to achieve and of course the names that do achieve it well have publishing houses to back them up.

@the_erik_doran Absolutely. And probably without thinking or classifying what they were creating.

@VFAubrey_Author In my humble view it is a growing genre but still niche in its own right (my Warriors of Spirit and Bone has a scifi link via my mech dragons and their creators) however scifi with fantasy tropes is common and some people (looks left and right) may classify Star Wars that way.

@YuvalKordov And the people who would know are your beta readers. Maybe run it by them, see if it works for those who know your world so well already.

@YuvalKordov If it’s in the world they know and enjoy, the reader has a link already. I agree, it should work.

@YuvalKordov I like that-might get a little more attention! But yes, a difficult one too. It’s more to show how hard it is as an indie to take a left turn when the readers want you to focus ahead.

@rohan_oduill I think that book will be right up your reading alley tbh. And thank you, Rohan.

@jennerbrownX Climate fiction-basically a scifi basis for a story where the climate plays a part. In The Scorching I assume the rate of the world heating up continues unabated and aliens arrive to help us fix it. The World in My Hands is set in 2054, Just Press Play is based around 2100.
