Consider, “you wrote me a lovely letter!”, that’s how Ed reacts to one nice thing. consider every other letter slowly washing up on their beach. Stede doing other romantic things for Ed. Making him terrible home-craft gifts from beach junk. Loving him every day🥹
1. I read a book for the first time since I watched OFMD yesterday 😂
2. A LOT of fan-fiction is equivalent or higher quality than the (really quite good!) book that I read.
So no more “oh it’s just fanfic” about your writing please friends.
One of the most powerful messages of Our Flag Means Death for me was that you’re allowed to enjoy things, and that wanting to enjoy your life is actually valid and important.
It might sound silly but seeing that in characters I could relate to changed things for me

Ok I’m gonna do a kinda dark note on this scene since we’re all talking about it today. We all agree the face touch sexual/romantic vibe, yes? Can we take a minute to think about how gross that would feel to Ed if doesn’t return that feeling?
Y’know, when I haven’t rewatched OFMD for a bit I start to wonder if it’s not quite as good as the hyperfixation makes it seem in my head.
I’m watching it right now and it’s BETTER. I know I’m preaching to the choir here but guys this show is perfect.
Props to those of you able to look directly at Ruibo Qian. That’s impressive af. I have to look through those little plastic glasses that they give kids during a solar eclipse; she’s too beautiful for my retinas to handle without additional shielding.
Yeah I’m gonna need David Jenkins to call my mom and explain the validity of this career move
(I got the job! High pressure mother is predictably…mixed in her opinion 😂)
Which is to say, it is David Jenkins’ fault that I am applying for a job that is harder, pays less, but is more important, authentic and will make me happier.
The final chapter is here. I have a lot of feelings, and so do Ed and Stede.
At the end, you’ll find beautiful art from
@mossgroves_art
that will just steal your heart away.
Hey, so, I’m gonna need 50 variations of ‘Ed and Stede immediately decide not to take it slow after all’ on my desk by end of play tomorrow? And I’m gonna need explicit reference to the bell, whether on or off. Thanks all, teamwork makes the dream work.

Thinking about the folks who’d put me on their cishet list because there’s a risk to being out in my workplace. Thinking about how I got advised to set to private the lgbtqia network meetings in my calendar so certain colleagues can’t see what they are.
I think something I love more than anything about OFMD is the willingness to take time with Ed’s journey, to not require him to be a perfect victim, to follow a line from traumatising childhood to normalised violence and coercion, & to give both vulnerability and strength to him
Rewatched OFMD this evening for the first time in ages (yes, all of it). It’s a fucking masterpiece. I know you all know that. But fuck, man, it’s so beautiful.
Look. There was this, and I forgot about it, and I don’t want to distract from renewal (

) but I just saw it again in my camera roll and we all need some cheer…
That’s great news Casey!! Congrats to the folks who worked hard! You know what else critics really loved? Season 2 of Our Flag Means Death!
So I guess I’ll be on the look out for Hacks getting cancelled for no reason soon

Max had its chance 🤷🏻♀️ embarrassing as hell for them tbh. Imagine fucking your own reputation this hard and not even using

Leaving when you don’t enjoy something is the best, it feels great, and it costs nothing. Applies to relationships, parties, movies, fandoms, websites…
