@AaronKlein You are correct. In fact, if we had even grown spending by just 10% from 2019-2024, we'd still be running a surplus now. But the pandemic era apparently ushered in a permanently higher level of spending.

@AaronKlein We are just chipping around the edges of the iceberg right now. And I applaud the effort, though it's quite a bull-in-a-china shop approach (perhaps a feature, not a bug).

@PeterMallouk There's not a single American who would agree that health insurance costs have declined.

@AaronKlein The rest - the lion's share - is mostly Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. And no one's touching those categories, even though they are headed toward bankruptcy and thus badly need to be reformed in some way or they won't exist any more.

@AaronKlein 1/2 Our budget deficit in fiscal 2024 was about $1.7T. Our discretionary spending category in 2024 was about $1.7T. You'd have to eliminate 100% of discretionary spending in order to balance the budget.

@AaronKlein And we don't believe @SenWarren when she says she doesn't accept campaign money from "Big Pharma", when public records show she's #2 in that category... behind #1 @SenSanders ... who also denies taking $ from "Big Pharma".
