Major flash flooding in Death Valley National Park this morning. Approximately two dozen vehicles trapped in mud and rock debris at the Inn at Death Valley. Took nearly 6 hours to get out.

Just over 1.4 corgis of snow fell overnight at the cabin we’re staying at, NW of Leavenworth. Lots of shoveling this morning but the pups are loving it!

I can’t be happy about the tornadoes I saw today. Way too many lives disrupted. We never did find this guy’s cat. Hopefully just hiding somewhere. Just heartbroken for all of the folks impacted today…
Mother Nature put on a stunning display of light and shadows on Tuesday as a series of strong storms rumbled through Grand Canyon National Park.

Pretty much just a raw to jpeg conversion with a little noise reduction but I had to import the files this morning and make sure it wasn’t just a dream.

The first bolt I ever captured in Badlands National Park. I only wish this one would’ve had some branching. Disclaimer: Don’t try this at home, I was in the car and just let the camera get what it could get.

Lightning hammered the mountains above Badwater Basin as a storm moved through Death Valley National Park on Thursday night. One of most incredible weather events I’ve ever experienced!

Here’s a shot of yesterday’s landspout in Sun Lakes from the regular camera. I didn’t have time to switch the 50mm lens to something wider so I just flipped it vertical.

Here’s another image from Death Valley on Thursday night. This bolt landed towards the back of Devil’s Golf Course. My best guess is that this was between 100 and 200 feet below sea level!

Just a friendly reminder that you might not have to go as far as you think to capture some unique images if we get a strong geomagnetic storm tonight!

Finall broke my sunset lightning curse this year as an isolated storm drifted through some beautiful mountainous terrain south of Glenwood, NM. This was a new spot for me...10/10 would chase out there again!

About six hours of this but we made it out safely and with no vehicle damage. Helped as many people as possible along the way. Hopefully everyone else made it out without incident!
Didn’t have enough cameras, millimeters, or megapixels to fit it all in so here’s a small sample of the incredible light show near Wintersburg last night.
