Remember when Punjabi truckers took to the roads last year to show support for the farmers protests & pple were like “wow they are blocking hwy traffic” but now a very diff group of truckers are seen as a “powerful protest movement.” See how that discourse conveniently changes👀

Getting murdered while being out on a walk with your family because of the colour of your skin and your faith is what happens in Canada. It literally JUST happened. Don't ask how could this happen because Islamophobia, racism, and hate is a Canadian reality.

To neighbours who subtly (and not so subtly) complain abt "loud" Indian weddings - you do realize if you're a chill neighbour you get invited, right? Like, we just invite you to pop in and then you can be part of the fun. Doesn't that sound like a better option than complaining?

Retweeting and urge folks to pay attention to this. International students come here to try and build a better life. It’s far from easy and is often a very isolating and challenging experience. Prabhjot was brutally attacked and killed and honestly it could happen again…

Prabhjot Singh, 23, a Sikh international student was murdered this Sunday in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada by 2-4 white males who slit his throat as he came home from his job as a taxi driver. Truro Police have released one alleged perpetrator but have not ruled out a hate crime.

We simply cannot turn a blind eye to the racist, white supremacy in our own communities. Within the past few days, these flyers have been spotted in various cities in BC (Vancouver, Nanaimo, and Surrey) This is not an "across the border" problem. This is vile and dangerous.

Today, I had to search what #gloryholes meant for the sake of my job and ... yea. That was how my day went.

Excited to share this piece - which is the first of a four-part series about COVID-19 in the South Asian community here in Metro Van. There is a lot to understand beyond our "big weddings" and large events. First, let's look at data and why it matters:

Hearing of efforts to bring three thousand meals made by volunteers at Gurdwara Dukh Nivaran Sahib in Surrey and Guru Nanak Food Bank. The meals will apparently be helicoptered in for those people who have been stranded at 8 am. 🙏🏽 @CityNewsVAN #bcstorm

Do you remember this show that was on YTV in the early-ish 2000s? Turns out it was about a kid growing up in Burnaby and it was based on a real-life kid who grew up in Burnaby (who also went on to create Yvon of the Yukon). You can read it tomorrow on @bbybeacon

Uh..... Premier Horgan seems to be blaming folks for unpreparedness during this heat wave?! After many people, including seniors, have died.

My father in law just landed from India at #YVR . Says NO #COVID19 screening measures were taken. All he was asked by the border agent was if he had a fever or cough in the last 2 few weeks... How is this ok?

Protesters also gathered outside #BC Parliament buildings today to stand in solidarity with #farmers . 200 pairs of juttis were placed on the steps of BC legislature to symbolize the lives of roughly 200 farmers who have died during the protests. (Photos from Jindi Singh).

This is so terrible. Everything people worked so hard for and the family pictures, memories, mementos made by their kids all gone. 💔

It's government bodies actually reaching out/ working with community stakeholders to get the messaging across in culturally-relevant ways to community members. Has there been a lack of that? What I'm hearing from organizers advocates in Brampton, Surrey, Fresno - yes
